I used it in the most basic of ways and that feels a little like cheating. I often use stencils but usually, they are a jumping-off point. That feels more creative to me. However, this stencil is gorgeous and needs nothing added to it. Plus the background is quite busy so enough is enough.<p></p><p>I used embossing powder on the vellum. I wasn't sure how the vellum would react to the heat gun. I was careful to keep it at a distance and it worked perfectly. I created the background with alcohol ink markers. They work perfectly. Since creating this background I have played more with the markers and found a way to make them less blotchy looking, more blendy.</p>Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-152281551816120388.post-78373869877183099412024-03-17T09:34:00.003-04:002024-03-17T09:34:44.222-04:00Slow Stitching Sunday<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW7n9PDNTw6YrsaYBlqY0c_mGeEBk2DJxEXvNoQFshjNaFpRtpG2acOZajd8Ca0qnquhPzouXoDw_0orp6JVGiMKWpfdid5JGJktJskOoJmaFcFrQOZTrF-RkGgZZt2R5yfy5mPcTLDhwcTKpZzbBeTcFv7ElSXnBp7vKk-LXKscpGm5M0yo-cEo1n33li/s3024/IMG_0833.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2650" data-original-width="3024" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW7n9PDNTw6YrsaYBlqY0c_mGeEBk2DJxEXvNoQFshjNaFpRtpG2acOZajd8Ca0qnquhPzouXoDw_0orp6JVGiMKWpfdid5JGJktJskOoJmaFcFrQOZTrF-RkGgZZt2R5yfy5mPcTLDhwcTKpZzbBeTcFv7ElSXnBp7vKk-LXKscpGm5M0yo-cEo1n33li/s320/IMG_0833.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> Month three of stitching on even weave fabric is moving right along. For sure the even weave fabric is helping me to have neater stitches. That wasn't my goal for this project. My goal was to try new stitches or practice some old ones that I don't use often. Finding new stitches that I actually want to do has been a challenge. There are loads of new to me stitches out there though so I will keep at it.<p></p><p>I have a lovely library books and need to get them off the shelf. So far I have just been using The Complete Stitch Encyclopedia by Jan Eaton. I have used lots of different laces. I also dug out a bunch of silk ribbon kits to stitch. I don't use kits very often any more but sometimes it is nice to not have to make decisions. Rhubarb is one of my favourites. I love the tartness of it. I remember eating a stalk fresh from the garden when I was a child. Mom gave me a bit of sugar in a bowl to dip it into. Now I make pies from it. Unfortunately, I have to buy the rhubarb as it doesn't grow well in my backyard.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Touch is more difficult. I can't think of anything in particular that I touch in the spring other than dirt. And I really don't like touching dirt or gardening because of the dirt. Funny, if I call it earth it sounds better. Maybe I can teach myself to not be bothered by it. I am always grateful for what the earth produces for us to enjoy. </p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Sight is easier. I just saw my first robin of the spring yesterday. Robins are always a welcome sign that winter is over or almost. Their cheery song is a delight to hear. The Cardinals have been singing more lately too. I am so blessed to get to hear their beautiful music. I relax merely at the thought of it.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">There are a lot of farms in this area. I live close to downtown but the smells of the farms often waft through our neighbourhood. Although I don't enjoy the smell of manure I do enjoy the crops our farmers toil to produce. A more pleasant scent is the lilac tree that is in my neighbour's yard but its branches have reached over the fence to tantalize me. That is delightful. </p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Pictured above is Snoopy Rock. Fun! Who doesn't love Snoopy and his fun dance? I am glad that we got to see this rock formation. </p>Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-152281551816120388.post-91145928529562349432024-03-06T12:56:00.005-05:002024-03-06T12:56:59.294-05:00Work in Progress Wednesday<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV3HYVFBTCNtMcWaJExVttb3ccR4LAT6cXmPQx-jeSERdKExCaaRXnTyyqplRsWjP5UlhWXn-7WuLwimw-mXfXFTZ21tscMJSl0CAL7CqBWqJoMEFSsD-exzJ09YelvKjynxhbf-BXI8DpmgoQp_KhzDoI2Rg80cqjor5E3GUJFsllyb087NtHBgQSu7ca/s1746/IMG_0817.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1746" data-original-width="1147" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV3HYVFBTCNtMcWaJExVttb3ccR4LAT6cXmPQx-jeSERdKExCaaRXnTyyqplRsWjP5UlhWXn-7WuLwimw-mXfXFTZ21tscMJSl0CAL7CqBWqJoMEFSsD-exzJ09YelvKjynxhbf-BXI8DpmgoQp_KhzDoI2Rg80cqjor5E3GUJFsllyb087NtHBgQSu7ca/s320/IMG_0817.jpg" width="210" /></a></div><br /> I have added a bit of stitching to this lovely little landscape. It is lovely to be home from holidays and have access to all my art supplies. As all my mandalas are this mandala was an act of mark-making and meditation. I believe this is the first time that I have used oil pastels on a mandala. I find oil pastels tricky. I have yet to master getting them to blend nicely. I am practising in my art journal so I hope to eventually master them. They work well for simple marks no real skill is needed for that. <p></p><p>This mandala is not beautiful to me but it is interesting. I enjoyed creating it at the very least. I used watercolour, pearl ex powder, markers, oil pastels and dye crystals all on a a coffee filter. </p>Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-152281551816120388.post-84467048283291235822024-03-03T09:26:00.003-05:002024-03-03T09:26:44.307-05:00Slow Stitching Sunday<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQu0Tu1_07NI1nCuf_UFEYuUaXjcgJ5VEuVbNaAS81IRsWJAPxIkDPHA3Lh57xjsCtD5YPqacHTfAkAg0Z-6BCCSEGQnCvMCFZPjVOcTX9lbhgWm4SRNC1xMb8Rge06iMa9Ka-edXU_ZSfFgwJJAyHXOBISFD8jj84w3dvO0VKZJelwWRvoy8TJ5j2H5cs/s3699/IMG_0815.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2929" data-original-width="3699" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQu0Tu1_07NI1nCuf_UFEYuUaXjcgJ5VEuVbNaAS81IRsWJAPxIkDPHA3Lh57xjsCtD5YPqacHTfAkAg0Z-6BCCSEGQnCvMCFZPjVOcTX9lbhgWm4SRNC1xMb8Rge06iMa9Ka-edXU_ZSfFgwJJAyHXOBISFD8jj84w3dvO0VKZJelwWRvoy8TJ5j2H5cs/s320/IMG_0815.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> I took my scrappy scroll pages along on our holiday. I did not do much stitching but I was glad I brought it along. I forced myself to spend some time looking out the window on our drive. Driving through the mountainous area was beautiful but also terrifying to me. On the return drive, I just buried my head into my stitching. I was so much more relaxed!<p></p><p>There is still loads more to do on these little pages. I have to remember to leave space at the top and bottom for the seams. I bought some beads while in Sedona and it feels like an appropriate idea to use some of them on these pieces. I highly recommend the adventure.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222;">Coming home and sleeping in one's own bed is also a delight. I love my home and my life! So why not just use them? Much more fun!<p></p><div>This scroll also got me going through some different stashes. It is always enjoyable to find something beautiful. I believe I can create beautiful things even with wonky stitches.<p></p><p>Isn't that the beautiful thing about ageing? At least, for me, I am becoming freer and more accepting of myself and others. This project is about learning and growing, not perfection.</p><p>I am linking to</p><p><a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/</a><br /></p>Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-152281551816120388.post-39368496467382472602024-02-02T15:49:00.000-05:002024-02-02T15:49:03.218-05:00Funky Chairs<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSrowwewAK-3aAPOIOfTbSIbgqj3riMxV_mn_i2WjetB-ziGozhIXicmrTQ8rGD-yGD58xUqg03wh_AAV8dk9hjaVP-kngjntnQelBWwzm_21zum8C6RYsjX9IfRbAuSpBWnYCBbWabO8PYzM988gyTmA8TyvodGjmn-Xn26WKJIqeRoV4t1jz7r9r968h/s3742/IMG_0747.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3742" data-original-width="2966" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSrowwewAK-3aAPOIOfTbSIbgqj3riMxV_mn_i2WjetB-ziGozhIXicmrTQ8rGD-yGD58xUqg03wh_AAV8dk9hjaVP-kngjntnQelBWwzm_21zum8C6RYsjX9IfRbAuSpBWnYCBbWabO8PYzM988gyTmA8TyvodGjmn-Xn26WKJIqeRoV4t1jz7r9r968h/s320/IMG_0747.jpg" width="254" /></a></div><br /> Well, Banksy insisted on being in this photo of my chair. This may never end. I have been sucked down a rabbit hole of the round. What fun! This mandala was created with a colouring page I created. I coloured it, cut it up, and collaged it to a painted background. I then embellished it with a bit of glitter. <p></p>Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-152281551816120388.post-4070063145072880642024-01-28T09:24:00.000-05:002024-01-28T09:24:00.547-05:00Slow Stitching Sunday<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1usmQ7uDtjrAFtSGDCnSwk3iOAtfuuUH-ft_LdL1EUKiauvM2wOn1Lh5c4cVLsTt2vt6zEHqkVM0duZLCysx0BDzYCCMOq1kXnQR4ns6syjGzhrMetkRDh0IDPfNV4CZ3wmgnm8NbyEQs4cnDZQoal4T_lQdQlXrN5KOT2PEZS3iv7lng9Zj9ZBQGb9ai/s2525/IMG_0728.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2525" data-original-width="2405" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1usmQ7uDtjrAFtSGDCnSwk3iOAtfuuUH-ft_LdL1EUKiauvM2wOn1Lh5c4cVLsTt2vt6zEHqkVM0duZLCysx0BDzYCCMOq1kXnQR4ns6syjGzhrMetkRDh0IDPfNV4CZ3wmgnm8NbyEQs4cnDZQoal4T_lQdQlXrN5KOT2PEZS3iv7lng9Zj9ZBQGb9ai/s320/IMG_0728.jpg" width="305" /></a></div><br /> This little floofy page is finished for now. Most of the pages for the scroll that I am working on now are very close to finished. I will be able to sew them all together and then work on the seams very shortly. That also means that I will need to create some more little pages to work on. They are the perfect thing to take along while travelling. <p></p><p>We are three weeks away from our next trip. I don't think I will get any stitching done on the flight. It is just too tight and uncomfortable. There will be a fair amount of driving but I may not want to miss the scenery. Still having a little something to work on is a good idea.</p><p>I am linking to</p><p><a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/">https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/</a> </p>Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-152281551816120388.post-23179622694094030362024-01-25T09:44:00.001-05:002024-01-25T09:44:10.358-05:00I Like<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm3s1kdM4sE-n3rJ_5T72Xpvm0cbjWbY6Da4bcQqLtslBQZ_TF_0StRisrr7ghBd_FkI_sAjzw0qCMHUSE_Qu6C8tk5xd6_xBFUTuCaAyhcTqba3uhbzAo0ulBv_RTsCECnbQrZjtMj-YxmUvYV9xjWjIZC1Tnd5WG4b4Aj8vu9cXWda0ZOSGSOWgJtCvq/s3951/IMG_0700.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3951" data-original-width="3012" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm3s1kdM4sE-n3rJ_5T72Xpvm0cbjWbY6Da4bcQqLtslBQZ_TF_0StRisrr7ghBd_FkI_sAjzw0qCMHUSE_Qu6C8tk5xd6_xBFUTuCaAyhcTqba3uhbzAo0ulBv_RTsCECnbQrZjtMj-YxmUvYV9xjWjIZC1Tnd5WG4b4Aj8vu9cXWda0ZOSGSOWgJtCvq/s320/IMG_0700.jpg" width="244" /></a></div><a href="https://lapaylor.blogspot.com/">LeeAnna</a> asks the group<br /><p></p><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;" /><span face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: small;">does your family play games? what kinds and are any of them new ones</span><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;" /><span face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: small;">this year? A lot of learning happens while playing games. I am sure there are many techniques for taming watercolours but I am not interested in learning them. I love their free-flowing wildness. I am happy to say that I have no concern about this looking chaotic and messy. I love playing/meditating with watercolours!</span></div>Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-152281551816120388.post-19307409424819787192024-01-24T10:58:00.001-05:002024-01-24T10:58:13.111-05:00Work in Progress Wednesday<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzUd-0FszYMXQXiDGOTer4dEvid5cWgYdMfGR6Ro_0yj49XVbAVA6b_0Ojjz6dvQ04dqEj3Z0ij-aG_L-0rNS95B12fyCJWitTAjeOid_X9vFbjKV_ox8W8GFOjgwRDFIE0eMk6H4UKSwJ9M2f1U5XiSsJLKNzSeTA-3DRacsHZDZfXC67DweXIP14MWUb/s2838/IMG_0720.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2483" data-original-width="2838" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzUd-0FszYMXQXiDGOTer4dEvid5cWgYdMfGR6Ro_0yj49XVbAVA6b_0Ojjz6dvQ04dqEj3Z0ij-aG_L-0rNS95B12fyCJWitTAjeOid_X9vFbjKV_ox8W8GFOjgwRDFIE0eMk6H4UKSwJ9M2f1U5XiSsJLKNzSeTA-3DRacsHZDZfXC67DweXIP14MWUb/s320/IMG_0720.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> I have started a new project. I am stitching on Aida cloth. This is not something I have done very often. I don't care for the precision of it. Finding the right hole to work through isn't really my thing. However, I will persist. I have divided the circle into twelve sections. I will work in one section per month. <p></p><p>I want to try different stitches. I also want to do stitches, which I have done before but not often. I will fill in each section each month. It will be interesting to see at the end of the year.</p>Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.com2
