I heart Macro

Image
Even though this image would  not get good marks from judges I love it.  I think it makes a really cool abstract image.  I honestly don't really care what judges would say.  The older I get the more I find myself needing to break out of boxes and shoulds. I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/   I am hoping she opens up this weeks post soon.

Work in Progress Wednesday

This is my June CQ block.  I had set it aside as I just wasn't quite sure how to finish it.  I knew it needed a little something more but wasn't sure what.  Yesterday I learned a new stitch and decided it was just what this block needed. Take a stitch Tuesday

The chained bar is a very cool stitch!  I think it has a lot of potential.  It is certainly a lot easier to do than the last stitch I learned (really didn't learn it).  I am excited to try with some other threads and fibres.  Pictured above I added it to a seam on my CQ project from last year.   I don't have any other projects on the go that I could have added it to.  I hope I don't forget about it! This image I shot with my phone.  I am quite pleased with the quality.  It is a back lit amaryllis.  I think it is kind of cool to see the veins of the petals. I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/

I am on a bit of a holiday this week so I am doing this post from my phone.   So cool.  I really didn't know I could do that.   This is my cq block for July.   I have a lot done so far and look forward to getting it done on time. Take a stitch Tuesday a day early

Image
This is a hot mess!   I feel pretty frustrated with it and just can't seem to wrap my brain around it.  I have to say that I don't like the look of this stitch to bother figuring out how to do it right.  This is supposed to be the Twisted Lattice Band stitch that Sharon B gives the instructions for  at  http://pintangle.com/   I am not going to let it get to me.  I can take out the ugly weaving.  There are plenty of other stitches I can use I don't have to know how to do them all.  Onward.

I am participating in the Heart Macro blog at http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/ I think this is a fun image.  I like that the anthers are in focus and the rest of the flower isn't.

Work in Progress in Wednesday

This is my bead journal project for June.   I am really happy with the way it turned out.  I  have long wanted to do a piece that was totally encrusted. I am linking with \ http://pintangle.com/ and http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/#

Take a stitch Tuesday

The double Herringbone instructions can be found at  http://pintangle.com/   Sharon is so generous with her time and talents.  I love learning a new stitch from her weekly. The top photo is my attempt at the double Herringbone.  I stitched the second part of the stitch rather close to the first Herringbone.  It doesn't look like Sharon's sample but I will call it a variation.  I am good at variations!  Since it didn't seem exactly right I thought why not explore a bit.  So I added a third set of Herringbone stitches thus making a triple rather than a double.  I quite like it.

I am so excited

I hit the mother load of specialty threads at the thrift store!  To top it of they were having a half price sale.  Pictured above are some of finds.  There were about 10-15 skeins in each package and the packages were marked down to $1.50!!!!  Wow!  This is going to keep me happily stitching for many years to come.  So fun!

This is a macro of the same blue rose that I posted last week but it includes a lily petal as well.   I have so much fun  with my macro lens.  I am linking with Laura at http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/

Work in Progress Wednesday

I have jumped into my July bead journal project and have it almost finished!  Usually it takes me a lot longer to get these pieces completed.  Well, it is isn't finished yet so I better not speak too soon.  This is 4x4 inches on a needle felted base.  I am pleased with the way it is progressing. The Woven Trellis stitch is in the upper left of this piece.  Sharon B at / http://pintangle.com/  gives the instructions for it.  I really like the woven stitches but I should know better than to do them on a needle felted base.  The fuzzies tend to get caught in the stitch.  I really want to do some more of this stitch on other pieces.
