Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
This is an experimental piece.  I have been adding embroidery stitches to it as I learn new ones.  I have no idea when it will be finished, maybe never.  I can see myself adding stitches to this for a very long time! I am linking with http://pintangle.com/ and needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.co

Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
The Knotted Buttonhole Band stitch is very cool!  I am really glad that Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  showed how to do it.  Mine looks a bit sloppy but it is still cool.

Work in Progress Wednesday

This is my bead journal for the month of October.  I learned the beaded chain stitch, the beaded closed buttonhole and the beaded buttonhole.  I am really enjoying the process.  Playing with the beads is so much fun! I don't know what kind of plant this is.  I guess I should figure it out.  It is pretty cool the way it curls into itself.    Nature is so perfect! I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/ and http://macromonday2.blogspot.ca/

Her Cup Runneth Over bras

Image
This top bra was created by my friend Judy Gascho Jutzi. She titled it Orange Blossom and this is what she had to say about it. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this artbra while supporting and drawing attention to a very worthy cause which affects so many people. It's decorated with nubbly yarn fibres, beading, buttons and decorative drapery trim for extra movement.         "Deirdre Anne" is the title of the bottom bra created by my friend Davina Bradly.  This is her statement. 'Not the same any more but still beautiful.'

More art bras

My friend Nancy created these gorgeous bras!  They are absolutely fantastic.  They were met with many favorable comments when hung for the show Her Cup Runneth Over. This is what Nancy has to say about the bras. What is Black and White and Red all Over? This ART BRA was designed to honour the fantasies of women. Like something out of a dance hall or saloon, this bra cries out, “Sexy”. Created with black lace, black ruffles, black feathers, and red ribbon that is reminiscent of garters. Black, white and red beads add whimsy to the bra. Simple white flowers add a touch of “lovely lady” to the creation. BIP - Breast in Peace These 2 black wreaths are a tribute to all the women who have undergone surgery for a mastectomy in their fight against breast cancer. It is made of all things I consider feminine: black satin roses, pearls, sparkly beads, and black feathers. An ART BRA to honour to the mystique and strength of women.

This is the second art bra I created for the upcoming show Her Cup Runneth Over.   https://www.facebook.com/hercuprunnethover?ref=bookmarks I called this bra Treasure Chest.   This art bra was inspired by the title as I came up with that first.  Anyone who knows me knows that I love sparkle and fun so I figured bring on the bling.  The process of going through my stash of fancy fabric and brilliant baubles gave me a lot of pleasure.  This creation is a labor of love and I hope it brings joy to the beholder. Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
You can find the instructions for Fern stitch from Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/2014/10/14/take-a-stitch-tuesday-134-fern-stitch/  This is a simple stitch but it looks good!  I found it quite easy to learn and I look forward to using it more.  My first attempt is in the top photo.   My second attempt is the lower photo.  I added some French knots but need to add some more.

I have been playing some more with my idea of photographing things behind glass.  I am quite pleased with it! I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/ and http://macromonday2.blogspot.ca/

I have been working for over a year on this!

I am super excited that this show is going to be installed next week!

Work in Progress Wednesday

This the start of my bead journal project for October.  I am making a point of learning new bead embroidery stitches each month.  I am having so much fun with this.  My mind is spinning with new ideas. I am linking with http://pintangle.com/ and http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/

Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/2014/10/07/take-a-stitch-tuesday-133-triple-chain/  teaches us the Triple Chain stitch this week.  What a cool stitch!  It looks fairly complicated but it is not.  The fabric I stitched into was a bit thick and therefore a little unpleasant.  I found myself getting a little impatient with it.  Never a good thing.  I definitely want to try this again. It might look really good with a couple of colors of thread.

I bought this slice of a shell so that I could do rubbings with it.  Oh how I love the spiral shape!  I took this shell down from the shelf the other day to clean it and the shelf.  Go figure, me cleaning!  I realized as I set it down that should capture its beauty in a photograph.  I am pleased with it. September Crazy Quilt block finished

Image
Here it is.  I see a bit of an issue to the left of the butterfly.  I am not really liking it but I am not sure how to fix it.  It also isn't the end of the world and I am not going to get bent out of shape about it.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Last night after feeling slightly defeated by Take a stitch Tuesday I decided to try learning a different new stitch.  You can barely see it in this picture but it is the closed buttonhole stitch.  I am quite pleased with my results.  Last night I thought that this block was finished.  In the light of today I see that it isn't.  Darn I really wanted my Sept. CQ block to actually finished in September.   Oh well, there isn't that much more to do.
