LeeAnna has asked
hot chocolate or hot toddy

I don't recall ever having a hot toddy so I guess I will pick hot chocolate.  It is a rare treat.  It can be overly sweet.  If I am going to consume empty calories then I want salty!  But I do have some hot chocolate in the house and I must remember to make some for my granddaughter when she sleeps over next week.  She will love it!

This poem landed in my email this morning.  I love poetry.  The soul of a poet is a beautiful thing!

“Praying”

It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.

Mary Oliver, from Thirst

I awoke to a dusting of our first snow this morning.  I knew it had to come eventually.  I am grateful that we were able to get the massive amount of leaves our tree finally dropped all bagged up before the snow.

I am still practising joy every day.  It is the same thing as a gratitude practice.  Taking the time to train our brain to notice the positive is such a good thing to do. I find I catch the negative thoughts that slip in much more quickly.

Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends!

  1. Pretty snowflake. We got a wee bit of snow here, too. Yay for practicing joy. :-)

  2. I love that poem! Mary Oliver is a favorite poet of mine, too. It snowed here in Colorado yesterday. It's that time of year!

  3. I would go for hot chocolate, too, and I always make it myself from milk, cocoa powder and sugar cane sugar. The latter is used sparingly, so the drink never gets too sweet.
