will you hand out candy this year? what kind? Will you wear a costume or
something funny like cat ears or tiara or face mask?

Yes, we will hand out candy.  I think we have only ever missed one year.  We don't get a lot of children on our street.  It is supposed to be rainy tomorrow, so we likely won't get a ton of kids.  Still, I have hidden the box of candy from my hubby.  He can't resist it.  It is best that he not know where it is!

I will not wear a costume.  That really isn't my thing.  My granddaughter can hardly believe it.  She started talking about her costume way back in July!  So cute.

As I mentioned last week, I love clearing things out!  At least, when I am in the mood for it.  I have been in the mood for it big time lately.  This week I took a carful to the thrift store.  I have started working on more things to let go, including my photos.  Yikes, there are so many!  But in the process of doing that I have found some treasures.  

I am getting better at feeling confident about my art/stitching.  I know it isn't for everyone, how could it be?  My liking it is what counts!

    We buy candy that we don't like, so it won't be so tempting! Halloween with kids is so fun. I remember all that planning for it, too!

    Is that your stitching in the photo at the top of your blog? I immediately thought of a colorful reef, like the ones we see when we go snorkeling! I love it!

    Isn't it interesting how we change over the years? Maybe you were as excited about dressing up for Halloween as your granddaughter is when you were her age. Now you are an adult and think 'cosplay' (costume playacting) is too theatrical.
    When you had fewer possessions, you didn't feel like clearing things out. After having built up an overflow of items over the years, you see the need for action and quite enjoy taking carloads of stuff to the thrift store.
    I hope there are a lot of little rainghosts and rainmonsters coming to your house for a Trick-o-treat.

  LeeAnna  has asked Did you take your lunch and did you use a little brown bag or have a lunch box?  From kindergarten to grade six, I went home every day for lunch.  My school was about a block away and Mom was a stay-at-home mom.  Most kids went home for lunch back then.  I am grateful for that privilege.  In grades 7 and ,8 I had to take the school bus and bring my lunch.  The school closest to home was too full.  When I went to high school, I walked but it was too far away to go home at lunch.  I brought my lunch.  I don't remember what I used but it certainly wasn't a lunch box.  I was way too cool for that by age! LeeAnna  has asked Did you get a new notebook and paper to use that year?  Do you still like having notebooks and calling them journals? I did not get new school supplies each year.  There were always some left from the previous year.  Being raised by parents who lived through the depression meant you made do with what you had.  Not a bad thing to learn!  I still do the same.  Mostly. I do love keeping journals!  I have never counted but I have a LOT.  I also have a LOT waiting to be used.  They are such a safe and wonderful place to make art, dream, record or whatever.  And don't get me started on pens! I have managed to go on three lovely walks with three lovely friends in the last week.  What a treat!  The leaves are gorgeous shades of red and orange right now.  Such a colourful time of year.

LeeAnna  has asked Did you do the pledge of allegiance every morning and then sing a patriotic song?  what is your learning style, then and now? The main styles are auditory (hearing) rote or memorization, visual (maybe reading or seeing charts)  kinesthetic (that's me, learn by doing something like writing or making or touching) Are there other ways to learn I've forgotten? Is it still your style today? Since I am Canadian, we did not do the Pledge of Allegiance.  We sang O'Canada.  My granddaughter still does that but thinks the song is annoying.  She is so funny. I am a hands-on learner with auditory a close second. If I combine the two by doing something while listening, it sticks in my memory the best.  Having homeschooled my three sons, I am well-versed in learning styles.  All three of them learned differently!  They kept me on my toes!
