Work in Progress Wednesday

It is finished.  I even got a nice comment from my husband!  I was feeling a little stuck last week but I am glad I persisted. I am linking with http://pintangle.com/ and http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/

Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
Looped Cretan stitch is the stitch that Sharon B. at  http://pintangle.com/  challenges us with this week.  My first attempt is in the top photo, top left of the photo.  It is not done correctly. I didn't realize that until I looked at the beaded version of the stitch.  So I went back and dit it correctly, lower right of that photo.    I then felt confident enough to add it to the seams where the blocks join in my crazy quilt project from last year, bottom photo.  I am not feeling quite up to snuff today so I will hold off on doing the beaded version.

Scavenger hunt

Image
It felt good to go through my photos to find the scavenger hunt topics.  I haven't played with my camera for a while.   This is for the technique shallow depth of field. This is for the topic blue, although it looks purple on this computer. Panning Mystery Light Delicate Water, even though it isn't actually water. Lines I will have the rest of the photos later this week.

Silk Hankies

Image
I have bought a number of silk hankies/caps over the years.  I love silk but must admit I didn't really know what to do with them except needle felting.  The other day I happened across a youtube video about drafting a hanky.  So I gave it a try.  It was surprisingly easy.  The bottom picture is my result.  I am excited to experiment with that a bit more.  While I had out my silk I decided to color a silk cap with my Inktense blocks.  Top picture shows that it works rather well.

Work in progress Wednesday

Image
It is almost the end of the month so I guess this is about finished.  At least for now.  I know it needs something more but I don't know what it is.  I will let it rest and then the answer will come.  This past week I added some more stitching, beads and the borders.  This will be a stand alone block.  In previous years of participating with the crazy quilt journal project I created blocks that would all be joined together at the end of the year.  This year I am doing some stand alone projects and some blocks that will be joined. Take a Stitch Tuesday

Image
Here is the Buttonholed cable chain.  I worked it on a needle felted back ground.  Some of the fibres mixed in with the stitching and made it a bit messy.  It is a gorgeous stitch and I will definitely use it again.    Thanks to Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  for the instructions.
