Bead Journal

Image
It is rather a late start in the month for my bead journal but the inspiration was lacking.  It feels good to finally be using this lovely piece of indigo dyed cotton.  Funny that this piece doesn't have a single bead on it.  Yet. Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I am really glad I signed up for the San Fransisco School of Needlework and Design's Burlesque Challenge.  It is due in less than a month and I feel confident that I will have all the stitching completed.  Challenges inspire me and due dates help to keep me focused.  I am having so much fun playing with the glitzy threads (donated by Kreinik) and fabrics.  However, I am not liking the row of silk ribbon flowers in the center.  I knew it as I was stitching them that they were likely going to be removed.  I am linking to https://www.quiltfabrication.com/ https://estheraliu.blogspot.com/ http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.com/

Take a Stitch Tuesday

Image
I really enjoy when I have the time to participate in  Sharon B's  Take a Stitch Tuesday.  This week it is the Bonnet Stitch.  I think it made an interesting center for my flowers.  I have only tried this stitch once previously, back in 2012.  I did not feel successful with it that first time and never used it again.  I am happy to say that I felt more successful this time and have added to it to a crazy quilt block that I am also working on.

Indigo dyed cotton

Image
This piece of indigo dyed cotton was given to me by a lovely woman who belonged to our fibre guild years ago.  I came across it while cleaning and purging this week.  It was so kind and generous of her to give me this fabric and I always try to honour the giver by doing something with the gift.  I have had it for several years and no inspiration has struck as to how to use it.  What to do?  It is about half a yard of fabric. Keeping a journal

Image
I keep a variety of journals.  The ones that I like the best are my mixed media and junk journals.  Having just done a tidy and organize I looked through some of my older journals.  They reminded me of all the fun I have sloshing paint around in them.  Pictured above is a journal I have created using a box from an Amazon book order.  The top photo is the cover and I love that it wraps around.  I am still pondering how to keep it closed.  The bottom photo is the inside.  I haven't done much other than collect some things/junk that will go inside and sew in a couple of signatures.

Work in Progress Wednesday

It occurs to me that I have never posted about the finish of this quilt.  I finished it last year and had it hang at a show in St. Jacobs this spring.  I started this quilt many years ago and I am trying to not be critical of it now that I have learned and grown.  I am linking to https://www.quiltfabrication.com/ https://estheraliu.blogspot.com/ http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.com/
