Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
No stitching to show again this week.  I am very caught up with mixed media, my journal and just playing.  The drawing on the right page was done with my left hand.  It was inspired by the photo on the left page.  It certainly doesn't look like the photo and that was not the point.  I have so much fun drawing with my non-dominant hand.  It is delightfully freeing.   This journal is almost finished.  I have a lovely collection of journals to choose from for my next journal.  I find myself dithering a bit about which one to choose.  I am leaning towards finishing an altered book that I started using as a journal too many years ago.  There are not a lot of pages left to fill in it.  That might be the right choice.

Mandala Monday

Image
I printed one of my kaleidoscopes on vellum but it didn't go through the printer properly.  It came out wrinkled on one edge.  I hate to waste so I cut out the usable part.  I can use this for the start of another mandala.  It could be an interesting starting point.

So, I totally messed up the questions from  LeeAnna  this month.  Or maybe there wasn't one for today.  Whatever, I will wing it. I like butterflies, who doesn't?  They are flying flowers!  They often show up in my art.  Nature has so much beauty to appreciate!  Lately, I have thinking of people as butterflies who flit into my life to show me something, teach me something.  Some how it makes the hard things a bit easier. I like sunshine.  We have had so much rain lately and I know the farmers appreciate it as do I.  I am just longing for sunshine and warmth.  My body is craving some Vitamin D from the sun! I like clearing out things that I will no longer use.  It feels so good.  More so when I can share those items with someone directly.  I have a box of children's books to give to my niece who is a teacher.  She told me she would appreciate them very much as she had loaned a bunch of hers and that pe...

Work in Progress Wednesday

I used to link up with a stitching blog for Work in Progress Wednesday.  I guess that is why I feel that my Wednesday post should always be about stitching.  But I don't always have stitching progress to blog about on Wednesdays.  There are times when I am spending my time with mixed media and my art journals. This week, I have been playing around with drawing with my left hand.  These drawings were done with a marker and then I added water to them to make the marker bleed.  I love them.  I suppose that is because my expectations are very low when drawing with my nondominant hand.  Still, you can tell what these drawings represent.  Or at least I can.   I love their imperfection.  Today I was thinking about perfection.  I have known from a very young age that I am incapable of perfection.  What a lovely and freeing way of being!  I never let the fear of something not being perfect stop me.  Now, for sure, I...

Mandala Monday

I love colouring in the mandalas that I designed.  Especially when I print them on vellum.  The markers glide so nicely on the vellum.  It is all about the feel!  I found a full ream of vellum at the thrift store years ago.  What a find!  I have shared loads of it and printed on it many, many times and I still have plenty.  Gotta love a thrift store!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
I have made some improvements on this piece.  I added some stitching that knocks back the pink circle in top right.  I have add more pink stitching.  I have added more fabric circles.  They are just pinned on for right now.  I think I will swap out the pink with turquoise polka dots in the lower right.  It isn't right. An art day with friends is planned for tomorrow.  I plan to bring this piece and work on it.  Often, we never get to the art part.  We mostly talk and eat.  Eating together is good but I wouldn't mind if we met after lunch so that we could get to the art making. LeeAnna  has asked May 11th is National Technology Day –  Name some technology that wasn’t available when you were a kid. What piece of technology do you think you could live without if you had to?  Wow, just about all of the widely used technology was not available when I was a kid!  It meant that we were outside playing and getting fresh air most of the time.  We used our imagination and climbed trees.  We found clay at the creek and made stuff.  We went roller skating and played makeshift baseball.  I am so glad that technology wasn't available to me.  More was available for my children but their time with it was limited.  They also played outside a lot.   For a fact, I know that I could live without all of my gizmos because I have in the past.  I would miss my computer the most though.  I use it more than my phone.  I would also miss my tablet because I play silly games on it.  Such a waste of time! I li...
