I was really inspired by the idea of stitching on Japanese papers. I love spirals so this paper was a natural choice. I want to explore this idea further.
Sooooo pretty, Angela! Just enough beadwork to complement the paper.

Angela, what a great way to use your Japanese paper. I lived in Japan for three years and have collected some of that paper. I had used it for their festival dolls when I lived there, but wanted to do something else with what I brought home. Did you have to soften it in any way before beading? (moisture or crimping?) Lovely, Jude
Hi Jude I couldn't find an email for you so I am answering your question here. I hope you find it! I did not soften this paper in any way. Another project I am working on I did crumple the paper and stitched on it. That works wonderfully well too.
I feel like this has enough beading now. The beading enhances the kaleidoscope without obliterating it. I pushed myself outside of my box by using some bigger beads. I am always learning! Working on another wool mandala. It is a pleasure to have the wool on my lap now that the weather has turned colder. I started this project back in the summer and didn't enjoy working on it so much then. I wonder if I can complete this project this winter. There are fifteen wool mandalas to do. It doesn't seem likely that I will. I could be wrong. I don't want to put any undue pressure on myself. There is no deadline. The spring might be cool enough to continue working on it. My but I do jump into the future. Slow stitching really helps me to be present. I am so grateful that stitching is such a balm for my soul. We all need to have something that does that for us.
