Not accepted

I submitted this piece to the Quilting Arts Illumination challenge.  It was not accepted.  Rejection is never particularly easy to take.  Learning of the rejection was just the start of a particularly unpleasant day.  I volunteer to teach art to young men that are incarcerated and that afternoon they were not at their finest.  Often there is juvenile behavior, however, I don't let it bother me.  I try to concentrate on the positives but that day it just sent me into a tailspin.
I like this piece and had fun creating it so ultimately it doesn't matter that it was rejected.

They rejected a piece I made for a challenge also. It does hurt when you put your heart and soul into something and it gets a no. Everyone has different tastes and a vision of what should be in a challenge.

With a judged event, be it OS, a quilt contest or a Miss Universe, comes the risk of rejection. Even the most fantastic entry can be beaten by what the judges think is better. We have to be prepared for it.
If I had been a judge of this challenge I would have loved to vote for your beautiful creation.

When you are already down because of one thing, further misfortunes are bound to keep you down. Now, there WILL be light in the future. Tomorrow will be a better day, don't you think?
My thoughts are with you, dear Angela.
I am sorry that your beautiful creation was not chosen. I am in awe that you volunteer to teach incarcerated people -- that must be a volunteer job that not many would undertake. Congratulations for trying and I am sure you get through to them more than they may know how to let you know.
