crazy quilt book cover

I made this small crazy quilt thinking that it would be a birthday card for a friend.  The friend is a real professional and an extreme  perfectionist.  I concluded that it was not good enough to give to her.  It's a bit wonky.  I made it into a small book for myself instead.  I think it's a darn shame that perfection does not come easily or naturally to me but I have learned to accept it.  Sometimes good enough is good enough.  And done is better than perfect.

I color copied the crazy quilt and used the copies as end papers inside the book.  I quite like the way that turned out.

I love it! I have always admired women who could do crazy quilting with ideas out of nowhere. I am not that creative. I think you did a wonderful job! And I love the ideas about the inside covers...how smart is that?

I like your idea of fabric printing the CQing for the inside covers - novel idea.

The colours are well suited to each other and love your embellishing. You could try next time to bury the lace, ribbon or trim ends into the seams by planning them as you are making up the CQ patchwork and if not try and hide the ends with some embellishment - more finished look to your beautiful piece.

Love the colors, very pretty.

I think all cq blocks turn out a bit wonky! It's because the embroidery stitching pulls it out of shape. If you leave enough seam allowance around the block you can square it up at the end. Besides all this, I think your block is really pretty and makes a very good book cover! I like the idea of photocopying it too.

Loving this!! I like the idea of copies of your CQ. Wish I had thought of that!! Will have to give it a try! Don't be so hard on yourself, thank God we are not all perfectionists! I am not one either and lots of my work turns out wonky too. Hugs

I like the way that you attached the pink flower button from the outside in with metallic thread. I too am impressed with the idea of photocopying the cover to use inside. My sister rocks!!

As a perfectionist (gahhhhh!) I love getting things that are not perfect...it shows me that I need to continually strive to loosen up. Sooo, your friend might be very happy to have gotten your piece.
Nice work btw. :-)

Very beautiful. Handmade is not always perfect, but that is inherent in handmade. It gives our pieces character. Besides, it looks great to me!

I think the quilt is beautiful! I would of felt honored to have received it. I really liked the idea of copying the quilt and using the pictures for end pages. Brillant
