alcohol ink on gold trim

I hope you're not tired of my alcohol ink ideas.  Sometimes I get on a roll!.

Yesterday I went to Little Inda in Toronto with a friend.  We had a wonderful time and bought some fabulous fabrics and trims.  The trims put me in mind of some trims I had bought a while back but not used.  I decided to see what would happen if I put alcohol ink on one.  I think it worked wonderfully well.  I have read that the alcohol inks are permanent on fabric so they should be permanent on the trim.

It looks pretty! Did you try it to see if the ink comes off with a wet finger? I love Indian fabrics! I posted about a piece I found that is trimmed with little mirrors.

Use caution around water! It will run!

Wonderful idea, especially if you need a different color. On cotton you could heat set it, right?

Hello Angela,

great idea to use it for this stuff : don't know if you could wash it on clothes, but the trims are perfect on other mixed media !

I did wet the trim with water and the inks did not run.
I don't know if you have to heat set it on cotton. It couldn't hurt to do it though.

I have wondered if the ink would color some old ear rings that were no longer gold. What do you think?

Hi Karen
I applied the inks with the felt applicator they sell to use with the inks. You put the ink on the applicator and dab it onto the trim. Super simple. Can't seem to paste a link here but if you go to Youtube and search Tim Holtz and alcohol inks you will get a good video.
warm regards
