Work in Progress Wednesday

Poor little blog!  It has been ignored recently due to getting Her Cup Runneth Over Show and Silent Auction installed.  The bulk of my time has been spent working on this worthy cause!  the show is now up and looks fabulous by the way!  So many talented artists have contributed some really fantastic art bras!

I have had a few minutes to create though.  The piece pictured above is a really good start!  I know it doesn't look like much yet.  I have applied old music sheets to canvas fabric.  I have also added some transfer foil and then some inks on top of that.  I like the way some of the shimmer shines through.  I got so lost in applying the inks that I spilled half a bottle of Heart of Darkness ink.  What a mess!!!  I even had it in my hair.  I am not sure what my next step is for this piece.  It is definitely going to have stitching on it but it may need more ink first.

I took a quick look at Her Cup Runneth Over, the bras are beautiful and I love the variety. You're right it is a worthy cause. The piece you're working on is gorgeous. I like the play of light against dark and the sparkle of the foil. I can't wait to see where you go next, with it.

Even more ink? If you had to pull out (or cut) some strands of hair you could have added them too to make a very personal piece of art! Looking forward to seeing what you will do with this piece.

Slow Stitching Sunday

 Working on another wool mandala.  It is a pleasure to have the wool on my lap now that the weather has turned colder.  I started this project back in the summer and didn't enjoy working on it so much then.  I wonder if I can complete this project this winter.  There are fifteen wool mandalas to do.  It doesn't seem likely that I will.  I could be wrong.  I don't want to put any undue pressure on myself.  There is no deadline.  The spring might be cool enough to continue working on it.   My but I do jump into the future.  Slow stitching really helps me to be present.  I am so grateful that stitching is such a balm for my soul.  We all need to have something that does that for us.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/
