LeeAnna and the gang are discussing:
remember summer breaks when you were a kid? How did it feel to have so
much free time or
did you help the family business when you were a kid, or take on summer
jubs? As you got into high school and college did you have summer jobs
or take special trips? Did you take special courses in summer (example,
typing, drivers ed, space camp, courses in crafts at the YWCA? )
Summer felt luscious and expansive as a kid. Like it went on forever. My days were free and unencumbered. Lazy. Perfect. What a treat! I didn't take courses or have summer jobs. Makes me sound like a real deadbeat! I am blessed to have had so many magical summers!
We have a bit of a break from the heatwave today. I walked with a friend this morning, which is always a treat. One of my sons just told me that the combination of walking and talking is really good for your brain. Yay! Plus we get to enjoy all the pretty flowers blooming in the neighbourhood.
I went to a wonderful yoga class yesterday. There is an organization that offers free yoga classes, approximately 10 different classes throughout the week. Amazing! I am so grateful to get to participate in one or two each week.
This weekend is a long weekend in Canada. My hubby always goes to his Mom's shack. um, I mean cottage. I take the opportunity to stay home and enjoy some chick flicks and eat chips and dip for supper! It is one of my favourite weekends of the summer!
It sounds like you're going to have a fun weekend! The yoga classes sound wonderful. My early summers were fun but I mostly remember working.
ReplyDeleteYou have fond memories of summers past. You enjoy the summers of the present with a 'stay home alone weekend', walks and talks with your friend and free yoga classes. I bet your summers of the future will be good, too.
