Mandala Monday


 Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery hosts a free Family Day once a month.  My granddaughter loves to go and I love to take her.  It is such a lovely, special time for the two of us.  We went yesterday and when chatting with the facilitator, I was dismayed to learn that we were the only visitors they had that day!  What a shame!  They set out four stations with a different art activity at each.  The activities are fairly simple so that any age can participate.

My granddaughter loved working with the modelling clay yesterday.  We were there for almost two hours!  She made a terrific underwater scene.  She didn't need much help from me so I made a mandala collage.  One simply can't sit around ignoring art supplies!

    It was unfortunate that so few people participated. Was it because of the weather? A rainy day - you stay home. A sunny day - you play outdoors...

Slow Stitching Sunday

 I enjoyed stitching my September slice.  I got out my book by Carole Samples Treasury of Crazy Quilt Stithes.  It has wonderful combinations of stitches.  I have had this book for years and never properly used it.  It uses basic stitches in interesting combinations. So, I didn't really learn any new stitches but I did enjoy combining stitches in new ways.  I might find that more helpful in the long wrong.   The weather has still been cooperative for stitching outside.  The week ahead looks good too.  I might get a jump start on my October slice.  It is sad to think about putting away the deck furniture but it can wait at least a week. Slow Stitching Sunday

 How did it get to be December!  I really meant to fill in the big gaps in my November slice!  I still might.  We will see how it goes.  I got a lot of other stitching done in November so I guess that distracted me from this project.  There is only one slice left to stitch on this project and I find myself jumping ahead to next year. I wonder if I want to do another monthly project like this for next year.  I like having a monthly project.  I might consider doing a mixed-media instead of stitching.  Not that I couldn't incorporate some stitching into that though.  I have no clear idea at this point and that's okay.  I have to get through the holidays!   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/
