Work in Progress Wednesday


 The basic shape of my little tree is done.  All the little scraps have been basted into place.  I used a lovely metallic green thread to baste.  I will leave it in because a little glint will show here and there.  I haven't finished my butterfly yet, so this tree may have to wait a bit for the embroidery to be added.  

I just treated myself to some new threads and they will arrive in a few days.  Ridiculous, I know!  I have enough thread to last many lifetimes!  Still, I am excited to add them to this project!

    I am sure this will be another fascinating tree, especially with the special thread you will be adding.
    Keep the basting thread and the raw edges for a unique look.

  LeeAnna  has asked Did you take your lunch and did you use a little brown bag or have a lunch box?  From kindergarten to grade six, I went home every day for lunch.  My school was about a block away and Mom was a stay-at-home mom.  Most kids went home for lunch back then.  I am grateful for that privilege.  In grades 7 and ,8 I had to take the school bus and bring my lunch.  The school closest to home was too full.  When I went to high school, I walked but it was too far away to go home at lunch.  I brought my lunch.  I don't remember what I used but it certainly wasn't a lunch box.  I was way too cool for that by age! LeeAnna  has asked Did you get a new notebook and paper to use that year?  Do you still like having notebooks and calling them journals? I did not get new school supplies each year.  There were always some left from the previous year.  Being raised by parents who lived through the depression meant you made do with what you had.  Not a bad thing to learn!  I still do the same.  Mostly. I do love keeping journals!  I have never counted but I have a LOT.  I also have a LOT waiting to be used.  They are such a safe and wonderful place to make art, dream, record or whatever.  And don't get me started on pens! I have managed to go on three lovely walks with three lovely friends in the last week.  What a treat!  The leaves are gorgeous shades of red and orange right now.  Such a colourful time of year.

LeeAnna  has asked Did you do the pledge of allegiance every morning and then sing a patriotic song?  what is your learning style, then and now? The main styles are auditory (hearing) rote or memorization, visual (maybe reading or seeing charts)  kinesthetic (that's me, learn by doing something like writing or making or touching) Are there other ways to learn I've forgotten? Is it still your style today? Since I am Canadian, we did not do the Pledge of Allegiance.  We sang O'Canada.  My granddaughter still does that but thinks the song is annoying.  She is so funny. I am a hands-on learner with auditory a close second. If I combine the two by doing something while listening, it sticks in my memory the best.  Having homeschooled my three sons, I am well-versed in learning styles.  All three of them learned differently!  They kept me on my toes!
