crinkled paper and other oddities to stitch upon

Image
I ordered something on line and when it arrived it had this cool paper stuffed in the package.  I decided to crinkle it and wrinkle it.  The more I did the more cloth like it became.  I backed it with a light fusible interfacing.  I plan to stitch it and embellish it with beads.  I hope it is sturdy enough.

kaleidoscope with glass beads

Sorry, not the greatest pictures.  I printed a kaleidoscope and then painted it with glass beads by Liquitex.   I think this will make a great little embellishment.

crazy qult block improved

Image
I got some really great advice as to how to improve this block.  I have worked on it for the last week and came up with this.  I like it.  It still isn't totally encrusted but it is better than it was.  I am learning and that is what counts. Don't forget to leave a comment on my anniversary post below.  I am adding to the goodies daily!

Happy Anniversary blog candy give away

Image
Two years ago today I started this blog.  Honestly I had no idea what I was doing.  I wondered if I had enough to say to keep a blog going.  I wondered if I could make enough art to keep posting on a regular basis.  I wondered if anyone would ever look at my blog.  I am happy to say that there was no need to be concerned about any of those things.  I enjoy posting and hope that people find it informative, inspiring or helpful in some simple way.  I love to give.  It is a very rewarding thing to do.  The fibres pictured above are my way of saying thank you to a lucky winner.  All you have to do to be entered is be a follower and leave a comment on this post.  I will draw a name on Saturday.  I will keep adding to this blog candy as I am puttering around the studio this week.  Thank you to everyone who visits my blog!  You are wonderful!

eight page book

Image
This a simple book to create.  I have made many of them in the past.  The one pictured here I made in Sandra Spagnuolo's workshop this past weekend.  It is a piece of plain paper painted on both sides.  It was folded and the star shapes were cut.  Sandra gave us random strips of sentences cut from a typing book.  We were then asked to put together a poem from the words in the strips.  It was so fun.

journal page

I haven't posted an art journal page for a while.  I love the summer and sunshine.  I love hot colors.  This page just makes me happy.

retry on bead journal project

Image
I just wasn't happy with my bead journal project.  I had to do some more beading on it.  Often I feel that a piece isn't finished.  I am always learning and growing and that causes me to think of better ways to do things.  There are times when I just call a piece finished because I am tired of working on it or I have lost interest.
