I find art supplies everywhere

Image
I was in Bowrings on the weekend.  It is a home dec store.  I am still looking for the perfect mirror for my newly renovated bathroom.  Sigh.  I didn't get a mirror but I did find these two place mats.  Neither of which will be used for place mats.  The fancy floral one will make a nice page in a romantic fabric book I am thinking about making.  The green place mat has great texture and I will use it for rubbings and for sun printing.

The creative energy was flying

As was the fun and fibres.  Yesterday I welcomed some very creative women into my home.  It was my first in home studio art workshop.  For me it was a resounding success.  I believe my students felt the same as they were all interested in returning for future workshops!  Everyone created two fibre fusion pieces.  I can't wait to see what they do with them!

June bead journal

Well, here is the beading.  I thought a nice curving line would add interest.

This is the photo

This photo of pealing paint is the base for my bead journal project for June.  I love this image.  It is definitely one of my favorites out of the hundreds that I took at the junk yard.  Such fun.  Tomorrow I will show the beading I did.

Work in progress

I can't believe that I have joined something else!  But it really does help me to get things done.  Sharon at http://pintangle.com is hosting Work in Progress Wednesday.  I really need the push to get my crazy quilt finished.  I have been working on it for more years than I care to admit!  It really is getting close to finished though.  This week I added the trim to this piece.

TAST Cable Chain Stitch

Sharon at http://pintangle.com/ has been introducing me to many new stitches this year.  That is a good thing!  I don't always grasp them right away but generally I persist until I get it.  This one came fairly quick.  I am always grateful when that happens.  I stitched a sample on a scrap of fabric that I had previously experimented on, top photo.  If I keep adding stitches to that it could end up looking kind of interesting.  Once I felt confident in doing the stitch I added it to the crazy quilt block, bottom photo.

Crazy quilt project for June

I am loving the color combination.  Turquoise, aqua with tans and beige are quickly becoming a favorite of mine, at least for the moment.  I am not super happy with this block so I may add more to it at some point but not just now.  I have so many pieces to get finished as there are a lot of shows to enter in the next few months.  Fun!  It is good to have deadlines!
