I heart Macro

Image
Oh how I love creating with my macro lens.  I can totally get lost in the beautiful details.  I am feeling a strong urge to print some of my macro flower images and hang them around my home.  One can never have too much beauty! Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I painted this silk with Inktense blocks and pencils.  Inktense is wonderful.  It doesn't change the hand of the silk at all.  I have quilted this piece and now it just needs some hand stitching.  That's my favorite part. I am linking with http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/

My version of Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
A while back I bought this orange silk thread with tiny sequins.  So pretty!  But I didn't really know how to use it so it sat waiting.  Then I remember learning the threaded herringbone stitch.  I figured this silk would work that.  I had too look up instructions for it as I didn't recall how to do it.  I found good instructions at  http://www.embroidery.rocksea.org/stitch/herringbone-stitch/threaded-herringbone-stitch/

I heart Macro

It has been a while since I posted one of my rust photos.  Don't you just love the texture!  Later this week I will be hanging one of my rust photos at city hall for an art show.  Fun! Gettin Messy

Image
I have spent a lot of time this last couple of months preparing paperwork for a number of different shows.  It is very time consuming.  It is also rewarding once you are accepted but that doesn't always happen.  Anyway, I needed a play day.  I have done tons of experimenting on paper and fabric.  Not always are the experiments successful but they are too good to toss.  So I decided to take them further and see what happens.  I now have a rather large stack of paper and fabric that I feel is useful.  I better get busy creating something with them!

My bead journal for March is finished

Image
And it has been attached to the crazy quilt project for March.  I included an old rose earring on this piece.  It was my Mom's.  I remember lovingly sorting through her pretty earrings as a child.  It feels good to include it in my art.  I am excited to start on the next bead journal.  The stitching process is very soothing to my soul.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
This is the third block in a series of four.  This one is depicting the season of summer.  The bead journal in the center is truly a labor of love.  I spend many hours doing the beading.  I honestly didn't know that I had it in me.  Once I thought it was way too tedious but now I find it rather meditative to stitch on the beads.  I will post a close up of the beading tomorrow.
