I heart Macro

I am not a big fan of bees but this is a pretty cool shot!  You can see the pollen on its feet.  Do bees have feet?  Whatever. I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/ and http://macromonday2.blogspot.ca/ and http://flowersfromtoday.blogspot.ca/

Bead journal for May so far

Image
Not a bead in sight as of yet!  I was looking back on some previous bead journals.  The first year I participated I took a mixed media approach to the bead journals.  I think they are my favorite even though I have learned a lot since I did them.  This month I really wanted to go with the mixed media idea again.  So far I have applied marks to a coffee filter.  I then adhered a kirigami paper cut to the coffee filter.  I have added some embroidery stitches with Kreinik threads as well.  I plan to add more embroidery before I start beading.  I am pleased with my progress! Work in Progress

I am pretty pleased with the way my selfie turned out.  Most members of the guild did one and we will have them on display in May at the St. Jacobs Quilt Festival.  At first I wasn't keen to do make one but now I am glad that I did.  I learned a lot. Ah, the curve of a petal, the texture of the pollen really draw me in.  To just sit and enjoy the simple beauty is like a meditation. I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/ and http://flowersfromtoday.blogspot.ca/ and http://macromonday2.blogspot.ca/

Crazy quilt block for April finished

Image
This is the fall themed block finished.  I am looking forward to putting all four blocks together.  I have some embroidered quilt blocks inherited from Aunt Pat and I am debating using them for the backing.  It is better than leaving them sitting in a drawer and I am really not sure what else to do with them. I am linking with   http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.ca/  for her Off the Wall Friday link up.

Bead Journal for April

Image
This bead journal has a fall theme.  It completes my season themed journals for this year.  As usual it incorporates a vintage earring.  I am excited to start working on my bead journal for May!  It always feels good to complete a project and it is exciting to start a new one.
