Journal Week #6

Image
The quote this week is 'Anyone can catch your eye, but it takes someone special to catch your heart.'  Okay so it is the week with Valentines and she was going for romantic with this quote.  Again, I wasn't keen on this quote and decided on this one.  'Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.'  Ralph Waldo Emerson. My background was done with shaving foam marbling.  The foam wasn't very foamy so it didn't work great.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I am working on a six inch block for the  The Canadian Sesquicentennial Quilt   I suspect there will be many beautiful blocks submitted.  Mine is rather simple.  I plan to fill the leaf shape with stitching and beads.  I love my country and really want to be a part of this quilt project to honour Canada! Take a Stitch Tuesday and A Year of Stitches

Top photo is my progress on stitching everyday.  I am loving it! Bottom photo I added the Basque stitch to my butterfly.  Thanks to   Sharon B   for showing us this stitch!  Sharon is amazing!  I have learned so much from her! Happy Valentine's Day!

I have a good and loving husband who buys me roses for Valentine's Day.  I am embarrassed to say that I wished for different flowers!  I was thinking roses aren't that interesting to photograph.  That is not my usual attitude and I did change it quickly.  I decided to try to think of a different  way to shoot a rose.  This isn't all that original but it is different for me. February Guild Challenge

Image
A six inch block using blue and yellow was the challenge for February.  I used some fabric I painted/stamped myself.  Since I am never shy to use metallics I decided gold threads would act as my yellow for this challenge.  This isn't a block that makes me go WOW but I do like it. I am linking with http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.ca/ I used a variety of Kreinik gold threads for this.

Journal Week #5

Image
The quote this week was "I am not fat. God gave me airbags because I am precious."  I know that humour was what they were going for with this quote.  I really like humour but this is not what I wanted for my journal.  I used the quote "I am learning to love the sound of my feet walking away from things not meant for me."  I printed that quote on top of a gelli print.  The print was not particularly successful but it makes a good background for a journal page.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Likely this is the earliest I have ever completed a bead journal project.  I did push to get it done.  I like my little tree.  I had a lot of fun creating it and can see that it may become a series as I have so many more ideas.
