Bead Journal

Image
Not on a bead on this bead journal yet.  I do like the fun butterfly buttons that I found.  I feel like they work perfectly on this.  I decided to count my mandala pieces.  I have 15 in various states.  Is fifteen enough for a solo show?  I think probably not.  Not enough is my natural inclination in most situations.  I am trying to get over that and I am succeeding in many ways so that feels good. What is it about books and journals that makes me love them so much?  I have shelves and shelves full of journals and books that I have created.  I have many ideas to create more.  I can get lost in creating them.  I can get lost in looking back through them.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I am a bit late in posting my crazy quilt block for February.  It is so bright and cheerful.  Definitely, the sort of thing that makes me happy especially in the doldrums of winter.  I do feel like it needs a little something else but I am not completely sure what that is right now.  I will call it done for now and reserve the right to return to it when the inspiration hits. I may have mentioned that this photo is on display at the  Legislative Assembly of Ontario .  Click the link and you can see this photo and all the art that is on display there for 2019.  It feels good to have the work that I love doing accepted and shown there.

February Bead Journal

The hand dyed doily is beautiful on its own.  I feel like the beading I added has enhanced but not overwhelmed it.  This mandala series is coming together for me.  I am not sure how many I need for a solo show but I definitely am making progress.  I guess I should count how many I have now. This journal is absolutely bulging.  I love using up the old doilies, scraps and bits.  I used a tiny piece of tatting on the paper clip, not sure where the tatting came from but I love it.  I used a scrap of ribbon embroidery I did many years ago.  All these things find a safe home in this journal.

Another mandala.  I seem to have limitless ideas when it comes to the circle form.  This one I started a while ago.  I stitched the gold threads and then didn't know what to do next.  It sat for a while until I came up with the next idea.  I stitched this mandala to painted felt and used many, many blue stitches.  I kind of like it.
