Princess Bubbles Creates

I have started a new slow stitching project.  This fabric started out as an experiment.  I liked it but it didn't work out well for  my original idea/intention.  I left the fabric hanging in my studio waiting for inspiration to hit.  It came to me this week and I have added some more colour with Inktense blocks.  I drew in a tree outline and have started stitching inside that outline.  My first problem is that I like the colours of the tree and therefore don't want to cover it completely with stitches.  Having an area that is precious is never good for me. It is inhibiting so I will have to get over that.  My second issue is that I want this to be something.  Again, inhibiting.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

I made this mixed media mandala a while back.  It had been sitting in a pile of work that was done to my liking but not totally finished.  In doing some tidying this week I came across a wood panel and realized it was the perfect size for this.  For a long time, I was thinking that my mandala pieces had to be 'quilts'.  Well, why?  Why not finish them off in the manner that best suits them?  If a wood panel works for mounting why not use it?   I am linking to http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.com/

I think my bead journal for July is finished.  I started by painting the fabric and will definitely want to do that again.  I didn't do as much beading on this one because the painted fabric was already pretty busy.  I am having an awful lot of fun with paint lately! I used the fabulous beetle wings that my sister had sent me a number of years back.  I think they look awesome.  I love the iridescence of them. I have been hand quilting this painted piece.  I have the perfect shimmery thread for it but it doesn't show up in the photo very well.  There are lovely glints showing that really add to this piece.  Does this remind you of fireworks?  It does me.  I am debating adding beads.  Definitely leaning towards doing that.  Beads are always good. I have made progress on repurposing this into a journal cover.  I cut it down to size and have added lots of beading.  I think it is going to be just right for my journal.  I am thinking I need to remove that large fuschia bead (upper left).  I love the shape of it but I think it might be too big and distracting.  What do you think? I do not consider myself a painter but I do love to use paint.  I play with it in journals a lot and I use it on fabric so I am quite comfortable using paint.  I wasn't intimidated to apply for the Explore Waterloo Region picnic table painting.  So glad that I went for it and was accepted.  I went with a crazy quilt idea as Waterloo Region has a long tradition of quilting.  I went with cheerful and bold colours as is typical of me.  I painted it last week through the sweltering heat.  ugh  The table will be placed at a local restaurant.  I hope it is one that that I like so that I can go there and eat at my table!  The table will be auctioned off in the fall.  I hope it goes to a good home.
