Work in Progress Wednesday

I added a bit more to this floofy page.  I am hoping that once it is stitched in the scroll I will like it better.  I think the pages that I don't love will not stand out.  Plus I will add to the seams once they are all joined together.  That could improve things.  Never give up!

Mandala Monday

This mandala has been done on vellum.  I love the feel of markers gliding on vellum.  So smooth!  Vellum can be a bit tricky to adhere to a base.  The glue can show through.  I have been thinking that I might stitch it to a base.  I haven't decided on a base as yet.  I like the idea of a journal but stitching into a journal might not be fun.  I will have to ponder this further.

I have added some more beading to this mandala.  Oh yes!  Beading makes everything better.  The process of beading is incredibly relaxing to me.  The dark green wool is a good background except that the dog hair is attracted to it like a magnet.  This one is getting ever so close to being finished.  Yay, that means I can start another wool circle.   These wool circles are 12 inches in diameter.  They are working quickly.  The wool shapes I have added take up a fair amount of real estate.  They are a new element that I am using.  How to stitch them is challenging to me.  Sue Spargo does a fantastic job working with wool.  I can learn from her but I want to be careful not to copy her.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

Lee Anna  and all the gang are discussing the following For November 16 2023 3.Would you rather attend a Harvest festival or an Oktoberfest party? between us, I LOVE festivals... walking around shopping, eating and drinking and music, so much fun I was in Munich and Frankfort just before true octoberfest but have been to several in the states. I'm not a big beer drinker but it was fun. I live in Kitchener, Ontario is the home of the second largest Oktoberfest in the world.  Or it used to be, not sure about that.  I am not a beer drinker nor am I particularly fond of sausages so Oktoberfest is not a high priority to me.  I don't think I have ever been to a Harvest Festival.  I would be interested in doing that.  I have been to Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin which I imagine is a lot like a Harvest Festival.  They had pumpkins that were 600 pounds!  Amazing.   I saw this leaf while walking with a friend last week.  The raindrops woul...

I remember making the simple craft of God's Eyes with popsicle sticks when I was a young girl.  More complex designs are now being created and I wanted to give it a try.  Of course, I couldn't use regular yarn!  Using highly textured yarns makes it more interesting.  Those yarns also make it hard to get everything evenly spaced.  Still, I had fun with it.  I am pondering what I could mount this onto.  I am also thinking of a way to add beads to it.  That could be interesting!

I love this mandala.  Even still, in posting it publically I see all the imperfections.  I would rather focus on the beauty of it though.  I would rather focus on the beauty in every moment, every aspect of life.  Not always easy though.  It will be a lifelong practice.   Right now the house is quiet.  I have two sleeping dogs with me.  My doggy daycare business is thriving.  I am honoured that people trust me with their precious pets.  I love that I can make art and care for these lovely guests at the same time.

Working on another wool mandala.  It is a pleasure to have the wool on my lap now that the weather has turned colder.  I started this project back in the summer and didn't enjoy working on it so much then.  I wonder if I can complete this project this winter.  There are fifteen wool mandalas to do.  It doesn't seem likely that I will.  I could be wrong.  I don't want to put any undue pressure on myself.  There is no deadline.  The spring might be cool enough to continue working on it.   My but I do jump into the future.  Slow stitching really helps me to be present.  I am so grateful that stitching is such a balm for my soul.  We all need to have something that does that for us.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/
