Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I have started working on another scroll.  All of these fabrics are ones that I have painted/dyed etc. I have applied some thread circles  I created the circles with scraps of thread.  I was hoping that would be all that was needed for this scroll.  But the circles just look plunked on and need to be integrated.  I am not sure what the next step is for this scroll.  I think likely more circles of some sort.

Mandala Monday

This mandala is an acrylic skin.  It was created with acrylics on a transparency sheet.  Once the acrylics were dry I pealed it off the transparency.  I love the way it turned out but I am a bit stuck as to what to do with it now.  I suppose I could just adhere it into a book or journal.  I am not sure what else could be done with it!

Slow Stitching Sunday

This mandala is in need of some help.  The yellow stitching is bothering me.  I need to take it out or add more yellow so that it makes sense.  I am never eager to remove stitching, so I am leaning towards adding some yellow.  Does that make sense?   Otherwise, I really like the way the pearlescent button and pearl beads look on this.  They play so nicely with the pink.  So soft and romantic.  That side of me doesn't come out to play very often.   LeeAnna  has asked us: did you ever go to "camp" as a youth? what was that like, did you like it? Did you go to learning camps like space camp, acting or music or dance camp where you went each day but slept at home? At the end of grade 8, we went to a camp for three days.  We stayed in cabins and enjoyed a lot of nature.  Swimming and canoeing were the main activities.  Canoeing is just my speed when it comes to boats!  It was a good experience.  Mainly we spent weekends at our cottage in the Muskokas.  I am so grateful it had plumbing!  I love the out of doors but I also like being comfortable! I like air conditioning!  This week we are living in a heat dome.  Yikes it is hot and humid.  But there is always something to be grateful for.  It was too hot to attend an outdoor yoga class.  However, that meant that I was available to attend an impromptu art gathering.  I love making new art friends! I love how eve...

Work in Progress Wednesday

These are a bunch of floofy pages that are ready to be sewn into a scroll.  Don't you just want to touch them!  There are nine more that need to be finished before I will sew them all together.  I like to have most of the stitching done on them individually before putting them together.   These scrolls are such fun projects.  However, once they are all sewn together they do get a bit awkward.  I have used up so many bits and pieces with these scrolls.  I never worry about ruining them since I am not overly precious about the bits.  Actually, I don't worry about ruining much art these days!  That is a good feeling!

Mandala Monday

This mixed-media mandala is pretty simple.  I created the background with watercolours and then added a stencil with embossing powder.  Embossing powder is so fun and magical.  I look forward to showing how it works to my grandchildren when they are old enough!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I have finished another one of my scrolls.  Sitting on my deck and stitching in good weather is truly one of my favourite things to do.  What an absolute pleasure to soak up a bit of sun and listen to the birds and wind chimes while stitching.  Life is good! It is time to consider starting a new one.  I have one more on the go but it is in the home stretch.  Oh, wait there is another one that requires a lot of stitching.  It is hanging in my studio waiting for inspiration.  It is already all sewn together.  That makes it long and a bit unruly for stitching.  I am sure I will figure out a way to manage.
