Mandala Monday

Image
This vellum mandala was stitched to a metallic base.  I love that the edges lift up a little bit.  I was going to put this mandala in a book of mandalas but now I am rethinking that.  It is so pretty!  Maybe I should frame it.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I am enjoying working on this piece so much.  I still need to stitch on some of the circles and get rid of those nasty pins.  This piece is intentionally not square.  Straight lines are not overly interesting.  The pieced straight lines will eventually be obliterated by stitch.  I am excited to do some beading on this piece but that must wait until nearer the finish.   I have incorporated some interesting papers into this piece.  It has been a long time since I have paper to piece and I am enjoying it.  I may look through my stash of speciality papers to add a bit more.  A few more circles couldn't hurt.   Thank you  LeeAnna  for still hosting I Like every Thursday even though you are feeling unwell.  The question this week is what is your favorite meal of the day? do you have a favorite food for that meal? I have never thought about that.  I think I enjoy eating good food at any meal.  I am so grateful I get to have various good food every day!  I am so grateful that I have never gone hungry!  I just thought of what my favourite meal is!  It is the one that I didn't have to cook myself!  Cooking is not my favourite thing to do.  This princess just wants to make art!  Oh well, one does need to eat. I love photography but haven't spent a lot of time with my camera of late.  I took a walk down memory lane looking through some of my past photos and came across this one.  What a beauty!  Isn't it a marvellous azure blue? I like that today is warmer than it has been all week.  I am even wearing shorts today....

Work in Progress Wednesday

I wish I could get this whole scroll in one photo.  It is about eight feet long so I just can't manage it.  I have beaded close to the full length of this scroll.  The beading is very nearly complete.  I have so enjoyed stitching the beads on this piece.  I am certainly in the mood to get this one finished and start another heavily beaded piece.   I have a few pieces that I can do some intensive beading upon.  Which one will I work on next?  The one that I am really keen to get at is not at that stage yet.  Still a lot of embroidery do on it.  I will not frustrate myself by adding the beads at this point.  Not a good idea.

Mandala Monday

This mandala was done in my watercolour journal even though I didn't use any watercolour paint.  I used fabric dye to create the blue/green circle.  The dye crystals split apart and move interestingly when wet.  Since I loved the way it looked I kept my mandala marks simple.

Slow Stitching Sunday

So far only two stitches have been stitched into my sampler this month.  They both take up a fair amount of space in the August slice.  I will have to seek out smaller stitches for to fill in the rest of the space.  I am so pleased with the way this piece looks.  It is really coming together!   It is such a lovely way to commemorate the year and to remind me of stitches.  There are so many beautiful stitches to learn! Thank you  LeeAnna  for keeping us all on track with interesting questions. how are you coping with the heat dome this year? I love the heat.  Winters in Canada can feel interminably long so summer is always looked forward to with glee.  Now, when the heat is mixed with 99% humidity then I am not so gleeful.  I find myself again hibernating in the house and ever so glad that hubby insisted on A/C when we replaced the furnace.   I do try to spend at least some time outside even on the hottest days.  I know I will regret it if I don't.  I found that beautiful leaf last week so I know autumn is coming.  I love the fall but there is always a tinge of sadness that summer is ending. Hubby is away camping this week.  I love my man and I love when he goes away.  There is such lovely freedom in looking after only oneself.  This week hasn't been quite so free though.  I have been busy hosting doggos.  Yesterday I had four ...
