Mandala Monday a day late

Image
The long weekend slipped past in a blink.  It was lovely to see my family all together but it was also tiring to host.  I had no energy for my blog.  So I am a day late.  I had so much making this collage mandala.  The possibilities are endless!

LeeAnna  hasn't been feeling well so there are no questions for us this week.  I will have to come up with things I like all on my own. I like the way this Morning Glory seems to be glowing.  It is almost like it was lit from within.   I like that it is Labour Day weekend this weekend.  That means I am hosting a family barbecue.  I get to see my brothers and their kids.  It is a lot of work to get ready but everyone brings food.  Some have to drive almost three hours to get here.  I appreciate that they are willing to do that.   I like that there are cooler nights now.  It makes sleeping better. I like all the beautiful fresh produce we enjoy this time of year.  Yum!  I made a wonderful peach pie that turned out picture-perfect. I should have snapped a photo!  My little container garden hasn't been overly bountiful.  Disappointing, but I still enjoyed what it has produced so far.  Hopefully,...

I have sewn all the individual pieces together to form my scroll.  Some of the seams will be less obvious.  I tried to trap any overhanging pieces in the seam.  They will need to be stitched down but that's fine.  The obvious seams also need some sort of treatment.  Also, I would like to do more beading on this one.   These scrolls are such a pleasure to create.  I am a little surprised at how many I have created so far.  It feels like I should do something with them.  But what?  Maybe it is enough just to have created them.

Mandala Monday

This vellum mandala was stitched to a metallic base.  I love that the edges lift up a little bit.  I was going to put this mandala in a book of mandalas but now I am rethinking that.  It is so pretty!  Maybe I should frame it.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I am enjoying working on this piece so much.  I still need to stitch on some of the circles and get rid of those nasty pins.  This piece is intentionally not square.  Straight lines are not overly interesting.  The pieced straight lines will eventually be obliterated by stitch.  I am excited to do some beading on this piece but that must wait until nearer the finish.   I have incorporated some interesting papers into this piece.  It has been a long time since I have paper to piece and I am enjoying it.  I may look through my stash of speciality papers to add a bit more.  A few more circles couldn't hurt.   Thank you  LeeAnna  for still hosting I Like every Thursday even though you are feeling unwell.  The question this week is what is your favorite meal of the day? do you have a favorite food for that meal? I have never thought about that.  I think I enjoy eating good food at any meal.  I am so grateful I get to have various good food every day!  I am so grateful that I have never gone hungry!  I just thought of what my favourite meal is!  It is the one that I didn't have to cook myself!  Cooking is not my favourite thing to do.  This princess just wants to make art!  Oh well, one does need to eat. I love photography but haven't spent a lot of time with my camera of late.  I took a walk down memory lane looking through some of my past photos and came across this one.  What a beauty!  Isn't it a marvellous azure blue? I like that today is warmer than it has been all week.  I am even wearing shorts today....

I wish I could get this whole scroll in one photo.  It is about eight feet long so I just can't manage it.  I have beaded close to the full length of this scroll.  The beading is very nearly complete.  I have so enjoyed stitching the beads on this piece.  I am certainly in the mood to get this one finished and start another heavily beaded piece.   I have a few pieces that I can do some intensive beading upon.  Which one will I work on next?  The one that I am really keen to get at is not at that stage yet.  Still a lot of embroidery do on it.  I will not frustrate myself by adding the beads at this point.  Not a good idea.
