Princess Bubbles Creates

 Maybe not so slow.  I started this project this week and have made good progress.  I am having so much fun with it!  It has been a while since I have created a highly textured piece.  I may have gone overboard!  I still want to add more beading to this.  Hopefully, that will pull it all together.  There is something about this that is off, not quite right.  It is likely the pink flower beads and gold fluffy yarn on the left.  I hate taking things out but I may have to.   We are getting a load more snow today!  It seems like a good day to stay inside and stitch some more!    LeeAnna   What is something you have always wanted to try but haven’t yet? Wow, that is a tough question!  Honestly, if I want to do something I just do it.  Maybe, I would go to space.  That would be pretty darn cool!  Seeing our beautiful world from out there would be amazing! I would like to try Waygu beef.  It is expensive but not as expensive as going to space!  So maybe that is doable!  Also, eating at a Michlin Star restaurant would be a yummy thing to try.  I am not sure if I can bring myself to spend that much money for a bit of food.  Sometimes I can be cheap. We got a big dumping of snow last night.  My neighbour came with their snowblower and cleared out the end of our driveway after the plough went by.  I like having good neighbours!

 Oh look!  There might not be any dog hair on this mandala!  Amazing! Yesterday I was looking through my bead stash.  So fun!  Finding all the right beads to use for a project.  But also a bit disconcerting that I have so many beads.  I can't seem to help myself when it comes to collecting supplies.  Although I have scaled back and have sold a lot or donated or given to some of my nieces.  I am a collector and I love having the right thing on hand. I found the blue beads yesterday and thought they would work well for this mandala.  I know these beads are meant for jewelry making but I don't care.  I like the way they look on this mandala.  I am nearing the finish of these wool mandalas and that feels good.

 This mandala got a little wild and crazy.  I have done a number of things to tone it down so I do like it better.  Still, it is pretty busy!  I find it a bit strange that I like busy pieces that are done by other artists but struggle to like my own.

  I think this mandala could use a bit more stitching but I am going to put it into the finished pile for right now.  I will know better when I see all the mandalas finished and put in place.  Some of them are quite busy so it might be good to have some that are not. This closeup actually captures the glimmer of the hologram sequins and thread.  And dog hair! I am not happy with the way the transfer foil turned out.  I used hologram foil but it looks silver.  Not really the end of the world I guess. I am linking with https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

LeeAnna has asked What’s one of the most exciting things you’ve done in life so far? Good question!  I guess it depends on your definition of exciting.  I am a simple woman so making art is exciting, especially when it makes me say 'Oh wow'.  In 2018, I was the artist in residence at Ayr Library.  That was exciting to me.  I also was asked to create my first installation for TheMuseum in 2019.  That also was exciting.   I always find travel exciting and I am looking forward to our trip in two weeks!  Two weeks! I have done a zipline, hiked a mountain, parasailing being pulled by a boat and hot air ballooning.  Those are the typical things I think of as exciting.  I don't really consider myself an adventurous person though.  I don't seek out adventure usually but I won't shy away from it either.  Well, I would never bungy jump.  That seems utterly terrifying to me.  These are some of the fabrics that I will be using for a new project.  I applied to be in the upcycle challenge being done by The Fashion Museum.  We have to purchase fabric from their sale.  $25 for a bag of fabric.  They are lovely fabrics. wool, cashmere and silk.  The loosely woven fabrics are good colours for me but I don't love the linear quality. The first thing I thought to do was pull the weft threads to make a fringe.  I think that works well. My next experiment was to use those pulled threads in some way. I trapped the threads between two layers of sheer fabric and then machine-stitched over all of it.  I also think that is interesting.  They look better in real life. I did more thread pulling in different ways. I have had so much fun experimenting!  I am excited to see all that I can do with this challenge.  The full set of rules will be sent later this week.  I am eager to learn what they are.
