Mandala Monday

Image
Another pink mandala.  I like the blue background.  I often try to get the background uniform in colour but I went a different way this time.  I like it not being uniform.  It was quite freeing to paint it that way and I will try it again.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I added some more stitching to this mixed-media mandala.  It is now time to add it to the finished stack.  It will be fun to finish this project.  I have a lovely stack of mandalas done on a wool base and they will all be applied to a quilt.  There is one more to be finished.  At that point I will lay them out and see where they should be placed.  I will also decide whether any of them need more stitching or not.  It is always exciting to get closer to a finish!   LeeAnna  has asked Speaking of bikes, have you ever ridden a motorcycle? How do you view them, or feel about them? Tell us your story I have ridden on a motorcycle.  I  have ridden with my brother and my hubby.  I am not fond of motorcycles.  Hubby had one for many years.  He just sold it last year and got an e-bike instead.  I am glad he sold it.  Motorcycles do not feel safe to me.  I rarely went on it. I like that we have been getting some warmer weather.  I took my art journal outside and played.  It felt so good.  I let myself put colour on the page with no expectations.  There was no burden to create something 'good'.  Yay for me!

Work in Progress Wednesday

I have a couple of more mixed media trees for my tree journal project.  I am happy that I have a place for these trees to live.  Well, at least the start of a place.  I believe it will be a book form of some sort.  I am not completely happy with the tree on the left.  It is interesting but not quite right.  I think it is the background that is bothering me.  I could knock it back with paint or I could cut the tree out.  Well, I could try the paint first and if I don't like it then cut it out.

Mandala Monday

Leaning into the pink.  I added a dark background and some pink glitter to this mandala from last week.  Now I am loving it.  I often joke with friends that I live in my own pink bubble of glitter and joy.  I think mandala is a perfect representation of my happy world!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
At the beginning of the year, I decided I would do a stitched tree every month.  The project sort of slipped away from me with others taking priority.  While looking for my crochet hooks this week, I came across these stitched trees.  I have created a number of them and they are perfect for this yearly project.   I plan to make a twelve page journal with a tree per page.  The first few trees I have done are on silk.  That will not be sturdy enough for the beaded tree on the left.  I need to rethink things.  I don't mind adapting an idea.  It is good to change things up! LeeAnna has asked National Bike Month –  Do you know how to ride a bike? When did you learn? Did you fall and get skinned knees?  Did you ride with other kids? Ever ridden a two person bike? I do know how to ride a bicycle.  I learned when I was about five years old.  I remember my brother Gary buying me a bike with v- bars and a banana seat!  I felt so darn cool!  I remember buying myself a ten-speed when I got a bit older.  I have a bicycle now but I haven't ridden it in years.  I should probably sell it.  I prefer walking and yoga for my exercise. My neighbourhood is stunning with trees in bloom right now.  I walked with a friend this morning and we were both struck by how magical and beautiful this neighbourhood is.  It is a treat to walk through it.
