LeeAnna  and the gang are discussing do you like amusement parks? which one is your favorite? Do you like rides or shows better? I have enjoyed amusement parks over the years.  It has been more than 20 years since I last went to one!  I guess that means that I have outgrown them.  I no longer care for rides but do enjoy the shows.  It makes more sense to just go to a show!  I guess I would go to one if my grandkids were going.  The closest one is Wonderland and that is about an hour's drive.   I like that my ideas for a book for my grandson are finally starting to come together.  I have been playing with a number of different ideas that just weren't working.  Finally, I have landed on something!  That feels good.  This book will be done with mixed media rather than textile art.  Textile art is a slow process which I enjoy but I have three more grandchildren to write books for after this one!  I gotta keep this mo...

I am thinking about adding this fish to my upcycle project.  I am limited to using the fabric that I chose from the remnants to be upcycled.  I like the challenge of that.  I am not sure that I love this fabric for the fish though.  It does have a lovely sparkle to it that isn't noticeable in this photo.  I still feel it needs some embellishment.  I am allowed to embellish but that is very limited.   I will work on other things for now.  I trust the right answer will come to me.  It always does!

I started this collage-style fish this week.  Such a fun little project.  I have no purpose for this fish at the moment but I do love an underwater theme.  I love working with bright colours as well as blues and greens.  I am sure I will find a fun home for this fish eventually.   I am excited to start adding beads and sequins but there is more embroidery to be done first.  Plus, that tail needs some work.  I think I have some funky yarn that will work nicely.  Oh, how I love to embellish! LeeAnna  has asked what Dairy Queen treat did you like best? Do you still eat ice cream treats? how about milkshakes? I liked blueberry sundaes when I was a kid.  Now I like banana splits but they are too expensive in dollars and calories!  I get a Skor Blizzard now.  We don't go very often, maybe once a summer, so it is a special treat, and I did splurge on a banana split this year. I like that I don't have any extra dogs to look after this week.  It has been a busy summer.  I have a sweet little pair coming for the day on Saturday and then nothing until mid-September.  I will enjoy the break. Speaking of dogs, check out these two cute videos.  They make me smile. https://imgur.com/UEfAUDl https://www.instagram.com/thefluffershow/reel/C6myHRSyKo1/

I have another tree attached for my tree scroll.  I used metallic blue thread and French knots to attach this tree.  The thread was not the greatest to use.  It really has a mind of its own and the French knots are far from neat or perfect.  Although they would be better in a different thread, I will not remove them.  I may add beads between each knot. I don't want to add a lot of stitching to the tree.  I really like being able to see the snowflake.  Adding more stitching to the background seems like the right approach for this one.

Mandala Monday

I created this mandala in Kaleidoscope Kreator.  I used a photo of some of my stitching.  I love playing with this program.  I wish I could get my snowflake templates installed again.  I have a new computer and for some reason, two template packages didn't transfer.  Maybe one of my tech-savvy sons can help me with it.  I am pretty good with tech but sometimes I need help!

Here is another section of this scroll.  I am ever so close to having it finished!  Finishes always feel so good as then I give myself permission to start another.  I have a few ideas waiting in the wings and sometimes it is really hard to wait.  Alright, I admit it, I don't always wait! I have one basket full of my scrolls.  I have a second basket about half full as well.  I am trying to figure out where to put the baskets.  I still don't have my house put in order from the reno we finished last month.  Plus, we will be starting another reno this fall.  No, we are not crazy.  Maybe it is best I don't put the baskets of scrolls out until all the renos are done.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/
