Princess Bubbles Creates

  This is another start of a collage butterfly.  I was interested in using more textural fabrics with this one.  Gosh, I love texture.  That is probably why I love working with textiles so much.  It is so easy to create texture with fabric, threads and beads.  Easy is good! I realize it looks like a real hodgepodge right now.  I think it will all come together once I start adding the decorative stitches.  I will enjoy embroidering it at the very least!  I am happy to make the time for my stitching, especially at this time of year.  The holidays are lovely but they are also a LOT.  Thankfully, today will be a slow stitch sort of day! Yes, red and green at Christmas is lovely!  All the shades!  My tree is always a hodgepodge of colours.  I love it that way.  Of course, I enjoy the fully coordinated trees you see in the stores, but that is not going to happen at my house.  I enjoy the old ornaments and remembering who gave them or made them for me.  They are special.  Our tree is a bit smaller than usual this year.  We didn't have room to put all of the ornaments.  Oh well, there is always next year! I like that I got to see my granddaughter sing at her school Christmas concert yesterday.  So cute!  I liked seeing all the parents and grandparents excited to see their child perform.  So sweet.   I have started three more butterflies, even though the first three are not totally finished.  I love doing the collage part.  I love the stitching part too.  They are completely enjoyable to create. I used up some scraps, but I also dove into my bigger pieces of fabric as well.  I doubt I can use up all the fabric that I have.  I need to pare down the stash a bit.

  The top photo is where I stopped with this mandala.  But upon further examination, I decided it wasn't finished.  The second photo has more details added.  I like them both.  It might be interesting to make colour copies of each of them and play around with that.  Why have I not thought of that previously!

 I have started another little fish.  My fish are smaller than my butterflies, so they work up a bit faster.  The tail still needs some work.  I expect I can finish this little fish this afternoon.  I have given myself permission to delve into all my fabric stash.  Previously, I was only allowing myself to use the smallest scraps.  I enjoy that challenge, but I have so many beautiful fabrics and I want to play with them too! LeeAnna  has said The holidays can be stressful... What always calms you down when you’re really stressed out and upset? The holidays can be stressful, I agree.  Each year, I try to let go of whatever is no longer meaningful to me.  Simple is best for me.   Making art calms me down.  Also, alone time is something I need.  I get alone time by soaking in a long, hot bath.  I know it sounds cliché, but it makes a difference for me.  I love my Jacuzzi tub! I am grateful that when I had to go out yesterday, the roads were in good shape after getting a lot of snow.   I am grateful for the health care system that we have.  It isn't perfect, but it has served my son really well.   I like walking with my friends.  I am glad that I will be able to walk with one this afternoon.  We haven't seen each for about a month.  We usually walk together once a week!

Even though I rarely get to meetings, I am a member of the Grand Guild of Fibre Artists.  Each year, there is a challenge put forth.  This year, it was decided that we would create a 3D textile piece.  I am keen to get started on it! My piece will be a round sculpture.  It doesn't feel right to start it just yet.  The house is still in quite a state.  The reno is mostly finished, but there are still small things that need to be done.  I have done a lot of reorganizing and purging, but haven't made a trip to the thrift store to drop off the boxes.  I also have a lot of things I want to sell, but haven't listed them on Marketplace.   Then there is Christmas to deal with.  There was also a family emergency that threw a wrench in things.  Yikes, there is a lot going on!
