string paper

Image
This is the coolest stuff!  I can't wait to play with it.  I think I will try stitching with some of this string paper. It was simple to make.  You wrap string, fibre, thread etc. around a picture frame without the glass.  You then dip your frame into the pulp.  The pulp sticks to the strings.  When it is dry you cut it off of the frame.

needle felting

I noticed that facial cleansing pads are made from 100% cotton.  I love to experiment so I wondered if they  would needle felt.  I dyed one with some ink and then needle felted it to some white felt.  It worked really well.  The top picture is the view from the top of the felt.  The bottom picture is the view from the bottom of the felt.    Both work depending on what you want.

I adore color.  This vibrant color just makes me happy.  I can't wait to stitch into these!  Maybe I will import these pictures into Kaleidoscope Kreator too.  That could be interesting.

stacks and stacks of gelatin prints

Image
Printing on a gelatin plate is rather fun.  The feel of it is so great!  I spent three blissful hours print making yesterday at Sandra Spagnuolo's workshop.  Fun stuff!  Pictured above are some prints I made.   They are a good start for something.  They aren't really wonderful on their own.  I guess I can cut them up or stitch into them or....

collage with layers of paint

Image
I did this collage last week at Sandra's studio.  Such fun!  The colors are much prettier in real life.  I think this piece has potential.  Actually, I have color copied it and have started stitching into the color copy.  I love when the ideas keep coming.

I have never posted so infrequently as I have this month.  I do apologize.  I will try to get back on track for February.

Bead journal project for January 2011

Image
I took a photo of the weed/flower Queen Anne's lace.  I imported that photo into my Kaleidoscope Kreator software and created the snowflake.  I printed it on silk charmeuse and then I beaded it.  The beading really is minimal but I plan to make these journal pages into a quilt - wallhanging.    Actually, I may still add some more beading - I am not sure.
