Oh colour, how I love you

Image
Colour, yummy, yummy colour.  It makes me so happy.  I used Seta Color paints on this and strategically placed some flower shapes on it.  I put it outside to soak up the sunshine and let the paints work their magic.  Shortly thereafter the clouds moved in and the rain started.  Boo!  I am thankful I noticed right away and brought this piece inside.  I placed it under a lamp to dry but it wasn't good enough to make the magic happen.  I was disappointed but I am ever-resourceful and figured out a way to highlight the flowers I wanted to be highlighted.  I added some interference gold paint to the flowers and think it works quite well.  As always, I am looking forward to stitching this one! Work in Progress Wednesday

I have a small article and quilt in the Autumn issue of  Crazy Quilt Quarterly  which is available now.  This is the last issue Pam Kellogg is editing.  She has published my work numerous times and has been completely lovely each and every time.  I hope to have the same relationship with the new editor!  It never gets old to have my work published! Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
Slow stitching indeed.  I am just realizing that I started this piece last summer!  Obviously, I haven't been stitching on it on a regular basis.  Not really the point.  This is just a fun piece to try new stitches, be creative with familiar ones and generally just enjoy myself.  It is a riot of colour and that makes me happy.  I do think it is getting to close to finished.  Doesn't mean it will be finished soon though! My picnic table has been delivered to  Grammy's Gift Baskets and More .  That is in Wellesley.  Also, you can see all the beautiful tables created at  Explore Waterloo Region .  You can learn more about each artist by clicking on the photos.  This was such a fun project to do and the people from Explore Waterloo Region were great.  So professional and organized.

A new start

One more vintage quilt block from Aunt Pat started.  I have covered most of it with different laces. I have left Pat's beautifully embroidered flowers to show.  They may get covered in the next step, the paint. They will stand out too much if I don't cover them in the paint.   Embroidery and beading will come after that.  This is the fourth block done this way.  I am really enjoying this process. Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I think this piece is finished.  It doesn't look remarkably different from the last time I posted about it.  I did add some more green leaves.  I used my own hand-dyed thread.  Using my own thread or fabric always feels so good to me.  For some reason, it feels really special and unique.  It was a complete pleasure to work on this piece.  It was the third done on one of my Aunt Pat's partially stitched blocks.  I have a LOT more of said blocks and being as sentimental as I am I do want to continue to use them.   I am linking to https://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.com/ https://www.quiltfabrication.com/
