I like walking with friends.  Mainly I walk with one friend and it is almost every week.  We have the best talks and see interesting things.  Somehow we always end up with weather that is manageable.  A bit of drizzle doesn't stop us.  In the winter, we dress warmly.  I live in the core of our city but we still see a lot of beautiful nature in our neighbourhood.  We have marvellously mature trees.   We saw these giant mushrooms growing.  I would like to know what kind this is.  Nature is so amazing.   LeeAnna   has asked  Have you ever had your palm read? or tea leaves? Maybe you have a friend who has a lot of intuition or sees what's coming?  Are you really intuitive or psychic? I have never had my palm or tea leaves read.  I am fairly intuitive especially when it comes to my art.  The other day I reached out to a friend by email to ask how she and a specific situation were doing.  She replie...

I don't play with my sewing machine often.  It is a wonderful machine and it works really well so I feel bad when I neglect it for too long.  I decided to dust it off this week since I have nothing pressing to get finished.  The fabric base I created years ago with scraps and an organza overlay.  It has been hanging around in my studio waiting for further inspiration. I decided to couch down some interesting yarns and add some decorative machine stitching as well.  There were some little hiccups in the decorative stitching.  I am not going to pick them out.  I plan to add some hand stitching to this so those hiccups might get covered.

Mandala Monday

My Mandala Meditation Circuit is finished.  I am so pleased to have it hanging at Knollwood Park.  I hope it can hang for a long time and many people enjoy it.  It was such a pleasure for me to create it and I am so grateful to the Waterloo Region Arts Fund for the grant to make it happen. I spent a lot of time on this project.  Now that all but the final report is complete I wonder how I will spend my time. There are always new proposals to be written.  That takes a fair amount of time.  I am getting better at doing them but I would much rather be making art.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I added some beads to my floofy book page.  I love all the different textures on this.  I love playing on this small scale.  There is more to do on this page but it will be finished in no time.  Not that there is a rush.  These pages are just for exercising my creativity and having fun! I like painting but I would never call myself a painter.  I have enjoyed a number of free taster lessons in the last couple of weeks.  This is one of my creations.  I do love butterflies!   Lee Anna  has asked us the following. what ethnic foods do you like? ex: most of us like Italian, but how about Vietnamese? Thai? Mexican? Cuban? German? Swedish? others? do you get take out, eat at a special place,  or have you learned to make a version at home? I love ethnic foods!   Yum!  Indian, Mexican, Italian, French, Thai,  and Chinese you name it.  I enjoy going to restaurants and trying new things but we don't do it all that much.  I will look up a recipe for something that was particularly good.  Years ago I came across this dish  Mediterranean Chicken   The recipe says 10 minutes of prep time but I find all chopping takes longer than that.  Worth it though.  My family loves this one.  It is actu...

I was playing with my floofy scroll pages again.  These little pieces are fun to create.  They are quick and easy.  I love being able to work on them a little at a time.  A little goes a long way with them.  I will soon have them ready to stitch together into the scroll.  At that point, they will need a bit more embellishing.  All good fun!

Journal Page

Image
What if my art journal pages are gifts of love I give myself?  A friend sent me a lovely email the other day.  She encouraged me to celebrate my magnificent self.  It brought tears to my eyes.  I wanted to commemorate her encouraging words.  I want to remember to celebrate small things and big things and just being me.   This page is loaded with acrylic paint, permanent markers, metallic markers, transfer foil, oil pastels and some Unicorn Spit.  It is loud and vibrant.  I had so much fun playing.
