Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I have started this tiny landscape.  Obviously, the cheesecloth needs taming.  The larger piece is just pinned in place at the moment.  I haven't quite decided how to embroider this.  What I have done to this point is okay but not great.  This one will need to sit while I decide what comes next.

Mandala Monday

Image
This is a woven mandala, well not so much woven but wrapped.  I used skewers and some of my funky yarns.  I added beads to help hold the yarn in place.  I still need to trim up the skewers.  I would like to figure out a way to attach this to some fabric.  Possibly I would add further embellishment.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I am on a scroll roll.  This is the second one I started this week.  I love the soft romantic feel of these pieces.  I love working with bright and cheerful colours but occasionally I have to play with a different set of colours.   These scrolls are coming together faster than I thought they would.  That also feels good.   Sometimes I need a project that can be completed quickly. I Like

LeeAnna  has some thoughtful questions for the I LIKE gang. Would you prefer receiving a box of chocolates or flowers on Valentine’s Day? if chocolates/candy, what kind would you like to get? do you get them? if flowers, what kind would you like to receive, does it matter that they are delivered by a floral business or brought in by your mate? What kind of flowers, colors, number of them would you love to see? Oh, flowers hands down would be my choice.  I am not picky about the type of flowers.  They are all beautiful.  I definitely prefer my hubby deliver them.  Mainly because of the extra cost of delivery.  Just not worth it in my books.  I am also fine with the flowers coming from the grocery store or farmer's market.  Beauty is beauty! I like that this winter has been so mild.  This week it almost feels like spring!  That has brought out the urge to purge.  I like it when that happens!  So does my husband!  I have take...

Work in Progress Wednesday

I started working on this snippet scroll last week and have made terrific progress.  One reason for that is that I had some sweet romantic things from a different project.  They were all together in a box and needed putting away.  I don't love putting away things!  So why not just use them?  Much more fun! This scroll also got me going through some different stashes.  It is always enjoyable to find something beautiful.  Some of the laces I have are absolutely stunning.  Time to use them!  I also went through some silk ribbon embroidery kits.  I stitched up a few of them and added one to this project.  I have another scroll that I will be adding the other to.

Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
This is my year-long project.  I want to learn and practise some stitches.  I thought using an even weave fabric would help me.  Turns out my stitches are still wonky.  Mostly, I am okay with that.  I had thought the even weave would make me neater but nope.  That just isn't who I am.  I believe I can create beautiful things even with wonky stitches. Isn't that the beautiful thing about ageing?  At least, for me, I am becoming freer and more accepting of myself and others.  After all, perfection is rarely all that interesting.  This project is about learning and growing, not perfection. Funky Chairs

Image
Well, Banksy insisted on being in this photo of my chair.  This was my first attempt at doing reupholstery.  I think it turned out fun! My granddaughter is super excited about the furry seat!  My husband was concerned about it but I have won him over.   These are two dining room chairs that I have painted.  The grandkids LOVE them.  After doing the first one I had to do two more right quick so there wouldn't be any fighting.  I am really pleased with the way the fabric turned out in the bottom photo.  Chalk paint works great and now the fabric is wipeable! I have a few other chairs done but that's enough for now.  I will need to get started on the next chair soon as I want all of them to be this funky.    My poor husband!  Good thing he is a good sport!
