Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
Another slice of the pie is finished.  I learned some new stitches which is the goal of the project.  I think this sampler will be a lovely reminder of the stitches.  I plan to keep it accessible in my studio so I can easily refer to it.   With only two slices left to fill, I find myself thinking about a project for next year.  I rather enjoy having a year-long project.  I like having something small to accomplish each month.  Years ago I did a bead journal a month project and loved it.  I don't think that group is going but I could just do it for myself.  It is fun to see what others do though. Work in Progress Wednesday

Yep, I am working on another scroll.  This one is a bit shorter than the others.  I have started stitching on some small doilies that I have hand-dyed.  This scroll is made up of fabrics that I have dyed or painted and did some rubbings or stencilling upon.  I hope that the doilies pull it all together in a pleasing way. If not, I will figure out something else to add to it!

LeeAnna  asked do you enjoy going in a "haunted house?"  or scary movies? Nope!  I am not into it.  I remember watching scary movies with my best friend in high school when I would sleep over at her place.  Her parents always had McCain's chocolate cake in the freezer.  We would eat cake, watch movies and get scared.  Silly teenagers!  That was a long time ago and I don't think I have watched a scary movie since then.   I have never been to a 'haunted' house.  When I worked at a theatre people told me it was haunted.  I never believed them but I didn't like being the last one there and having to close up the place on my own.   We started watching NCIS Origins last week.  So far we like it.  There is nothing else new for me in that realm.  Oh, except for Only Murders in the Building we are behind the times and just started watching the new season.  I love Meryl Streep and Martin Short together!...

Mandala Monday

There are endless possibilities when it comes to mandalas. This one's base was a gelli print that I cut into a circle.  I added a printout of one of my kaleidoscopes done in Kaleidoscope Kreator.  I coated that kaleidoscope in clear glass beads.  I love the way it turned out!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Oh, I finished another scroll this week.  When the right idea comes along I get very concentrated.  Plus, I love beading.  I added the beaded circles to this scroll.  I love a good circle.  They are constantly showing up in my work.   I also love beading.  Years ago I participated in a monthly beading project.  I put most of them into a journal.  I loved having a short project every month and I still enjoy looking back at those pieces.  I also enjoyed seeing the beautiful beading from the other members of the group.   Maybe I should start that challenge again next year.  Even if it is just for myself.  I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

LeeAnna  has asked: do you like to carve pumpkins? do you have a pic of one you did? Have you ever been to a display or contest of carved pumpkins? NO!  I hate carving pumpkins and scooping out the yucky mess inside.  We did it when the kids were little but not any more.  We went to Pumpkin Fest in Port Elgin many years ago.  There likely were some carved pumpkins there.  I don't remember.  What I remember were the massive pumpkins.  Some weighed close to 2000 pounds!  Crazy! I like having all the colours.  When it comes to art supplies I buy the full range of colours, the biggest set possible.  That probably says more about a major personality flaw than it does about being an artist.  After all, I don't actually like all the colours!  But on that note, I am still working on clearing things out.   It is good stuff, too good to go to the thrift store.  I have been listing things on Marketplace and making some...
