thrifty finds

I honestly wonder how people can part with these lovely napkins and place mats.  I am grateful that I find them and will put them to good use.  I do have quite the stock pile right now.  I better get stitching!

work in progress a day late

Honestly, the weeks are flying by!  I didn't make much progress on this block this past week.  I added the silk ribbon roses.  They are so pretty and work well with the block.  Reporting in on my progress really does help.  Even if it wasn't a lot of progress!  Thanks to Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com  for helping to keep me on track!

Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
The Breton stitch is new to me.  Since it is based on the herringbone stitch, which is not new to me it was easy to learn.  I used ribbon floss to create the stitch.  Its okay, but a bit tough to keep the stitches looking neat.  It is slippery stuff! Thanks to Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  for the stitching lessons.

update on workshop schedule

There is no class this coming weekend.  I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful Easter with their families and friends!           There has been a slight change made to the class on April 6.  I am combining my Japanese paper class                with the needlefelting paper class.  It should be loads of fun! oh lacy bliss

Check out the treasure trove I scored!  Some awesome vintages laces!  I got this bagful of delights for two dollars!!  I doubt the butterfly trims are vintage but that doesn't matter as I love butterflies.

work in progress a day late

Lace, trims and stitching were added to the block this past week.  It feels good to be almost finished this block for March.  I think it just needs some beads now.

Tomorrow is spring!

We are getting a fair amount of snow right now  :(   This piece I call February Dreaming.  Usually around February or March I am tired of winter and long for color.  Even though they are snowflakes they are bright and cheery.  Honestly though I don't want to see any more snow!

Thrift store finds

Image
This is some of the beautiful bounty I have found at thrift stores in the last while.  The table cloth in the upper left is the same design as the one my Mom used on our table for special dinners.  It is not the same size and in way better repair.  My Mom's I have actually cut up and used in a crazy quilt.  It was in pretty tough shape.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
Not a lot of progress was made this past week.  A stupid dental issue caused me to be less than productive. I did manage to add the pink lace in the top photo.  On a different block I added some lazy daisy stitches to the herringbone stitches.  At least it was a little something.

Take a Stitch Tuesday woven detached chain

Yummy!  I love this stitch!  It really does make an excellent leaf.  It is new to me but the weaving was familiar as we have done other stitches with weaving in the last year.

fun finds

Last weekend my sweet hubby and I managed to get away for a couple of days.  We popped over the border to the US so I had to stop at a Joanne's store.  Check out the pretty, delicate, sparkly fabric I found! Too fun!  It is always fun to find new things!

Work in Progress

Really not much to show this week.  I did add this doily to this crazy quilt block though.  These are so not my usual colors.  I hope I can learn to work in this color way!

Take a stitch Tuesday, sailor stitch

Another new stitch for me. I am such a novice!  I have been stitching for years but still have so much to learn!  I really like this stitch.  True to my nature I did it in a rather loose fashion.  I suppose I should try it again tightened up a bit.

Here is a list of my in studio workshops

March 9 Transfer prints We will be making prints with transfer paints and transfer crayons.  This yields a number of prints plus the paper printing plate is useful after all the prints have been created.  We will be working with paper and fabric in the workshop.
