Take a stitch Tuesday

What a mess!  I should probably be embarrassed to show such a feeble attempt at Kikos Flower.  I struggled with this one.  The instructions that Sharon B posted at http://pintangle.com/2014/09/30/take-a-stitch-tuesday-132-kikos-flower/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Pintanglecom+%28pintangle.com%29 simply did not make sense to me.  I read them and decided I should have a nap!  Not something I do very often but it is that kind of day.  I came back to the instructions with fresher eyes but I still didn't get it.  I searched for some other instructions but could not find any.  I did find http://letslearnembroidery.blogspot.ca/2011/04/frilled-buttonhole-stitch.html and it was close enough that I got it.
I am not embarrassed to post my struggles with this stitch.  It is helpful to know when others struggle with something.  Plus I am not addicted to perfection.  It is the learning process that I enjoy and I am glad that I persisted with it even though it isn't perfect.

Comments

  1. The Bullion knot is hard to do on its own, I can imagine how much more difficult it must be when worked together with another stitch. Why not take a week's break and try them again. On the other hand frilled buttonhole is quite similar in looks and much easier to do, so why not use the 'substitute'?

  2. I sometimes struggle with the instructions for the TAST stitches myself...quite often actually:) I haven't got to this one yet.

  3. I read over the instructions and struggled with them too Angela. I have put this one on the back burner because I am just starting 2014 TAST and will be a while getting to this one. By then, there might be more help with it.
