A cool idea
Sometimes I think I'm so clever and then I wonder if I came across the idea somewhere along the line and I just don't remember where. Which ever it is, I love creating and playing and exploring. It makes no difference if it is my original idea or not, but I kind of think this idea is.
I love leaves. I love sequins. I want to own every color possible. Actually, I have an idea that will require each color of the rainbow but I cannot find purple. Necessity is the mother of invention.
I have white leaf sequins (pictured above). I figured I could make them purple with my alcohol inks. It works wonderfully - see picture below. Okay, I have no idea why everything is underlined now and I have no idea how to make it stop. Annoying.
Alcohol inks come in so many colors. They work great but they do stain your hands. Drag.
The other thing I was thinking is that Prismacolor markers and Sharpie markers would work as well.
I have loads of these at home. I had a friend in Oz that was a retired dancer and she made all her own costumes. She sent me loads of them.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas.
Copics color well on them!

Hello Angela,
ReplyDeleteclever girl :)
I know that feeling of finding thé idea : mostly someone thought of it before but I hadn't and then the idea popped up in my head just like that just when I needed it... so that's the muse that's helping !
The sequins turned out great with the alcohol inks and purple is one of my favorites...

Your sequins look great!! And the alcohol inks work on lots of other things as well - brads, eyelets, beads etc - metal beads look cool inked up!
ReplyDeleteThis is great...you know I guess you could use twezzers to hold them instead of fingers and wear gloves...also those other markers would work because they are alcohol based...you go girl these look awesome. Your blog looks wonderful keep up the good work.

Thank you for the tip. I'll have to try this sometime.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are great sequins!! I've never seen leaf shapes - in fact, earlier today I ventured out AGAIN to try and find black sequins and I swear this city has no sequins anywhere. Not even at Michael's! (I live in a huge metropolis, so finding these things shouldn't be this difficult).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love your creativity! It's wonderful how well that worked :)
Wonderful idea!! I will have to copy this when I get back to my goodies!!
