Machine stitching

I have been getting a lot of enjoyment out of my sewing machine this week.  I have been using the decorative stitches to embellish this hand-dyed silk.  This photo doesn't capture the sparkle of the metallic threads that I have used.  This started as practice for another piece that I am wanting to do.  I think it will take it further with some couching, beading and hand stitching.

    Machine stitching often means going in one direction, and here you have a nice design of 'straight' lines going one way. It makes me see streaming water, rain, water drops on a window pane.... I like it!

Slow Stitching Sunday

  I am on a scroll roll.  This is the second one I started this week.  I love the soft romantic feel of these pieces.  I love working with bright and cheerful colours but occasionally I have to play with a different set of colours.   These scrolls are coming together faster than I thought they would.  That also feels good.   Sometimes I need a project that can be completed quickly.
