Slow Stitching Sunday

Aw, my whole cloth crazy quilt is approaching completion.  Finishing a project feels oh so good.  Well, finishing the fun part.  Backing and binding will need to be done eventually.  Not what I enjoy doing.  There are only two sections that need to be filled.  I am pondering what to do about the butterfly in the lower left.  Does it need to be filled in with some stitches or paint?  I think I will decide once I have the other areas stitched.

There is a lot going on in this piece.  I particularly love the way the stenciling of the dragonfly turned out.  The turquoise metallic paint I used worked perfectly.

I am keen to try my hand at another whole-cloth crazy quilt.  Bigger.  Not so big that it overwhelms me though.  I found myself dreaming of sitting outside to stitch this morning.  The sun is shining but of course, it is way too cold.  Spring will be here before we know it and I will be out there with needle and thread happily stabbing cloth!  Until then I will stay inside and cozy.

You mentioned backing and binding this pretty quilt. Does it need quilting also? Is the backing just loose? Just wondering about your method.

Gorgeous piece. I personally would fill the butterfly with either encrusted type stitches with beading incorporated in it.

So much beautiful embroidery to be seen on your whole cloth crazy quilt, Angela♡ It would be wonderful to see it up close and personal and delight in each stitch. As for the butterfly, both paint and embroidery would look fabulous. Have fun deciding. =)

This whole cloth crazy quilt has really turned out well. Working on a single sheet of fabric is much easier than then you have all the usual hems and folded fabric in a traditional cq. The metallic must be really stunning against the black background. I guess you will soon know what to do with the void of the butterfly.
