Mandala Monday

To be fine art it has to have a message.

That is a quote I read a little while ago and it has left me pondering.  Would my mandalas be considered fine art?  Do I care?  What is my message?  I certainly know what message I hope my art conveys.  Whether or not someone gets that message is another matter.  I find it very interesting to hear from people what they get from my art.  Often it is an idea I had not considered.  That is so cool!

  1. As soon as art becomes 'public' e.g. a published book, a painting in a museum, a piece of music reordered and sold as a CD, then I think the artists must accept that the public i.e. the reader, the museum visitor and the listener, have the right to interpret the work any way they like, whatever the artists 'message' is.
So what do I see in this Mandala? I see the vibrant colours and the movements. Rather than being calming and soothing it is stimulating and helping me 'to get a move on'.
