Mandala Monday

I would never call myself a watercolourist.  I would never presume to teach a watercolour class.  However, I do love to play with watercolours.  I love watching watercolours move and mix.  I love that they are not easily controlled.  They are playful and fun.

This watercolour journal is full of mandalas.  They are mainly watercolours but there is other media in them as well.  Sometimes I want a perfect round dot and that is more easily attained with acrylics.  At least for me, it is.  Possibly more accomplished watercolourist no a way of accomplishing that.  I am okay with knowing which media gets the job done the way I like it.

Watercolour has a life of its own. You never know how the result will be. To me that is the beauty of watercolour. If I wanted to control something, I'd go for oil or acrylics. Mixing different media often gives fantastic results. I love wax crayons and watercolour; control and freedom at the same time.
