Slow Stitching Sunday
It feels good to have this year-long project finished. I have enjoyed learning new stitches and recording them on this sampler. Not every stitch was new but having a refresher was good. I love that my stitches were mostly neat because of the Aida cloth. It was helpful to use Aida cloth to learn new stitches but I don't love working on it. Still, it was nice to know that I am capable of having nice neat stitches. Ultimately, I love my wonky stitches the best though. They are a better match for my personality.
I don't have any plans for a year-long stitching project for 2025. Not as yet. I enjoy having that sort of project but it is okay if I don't come up with one. Does anyone have any good ideas? I am not interested in following anyone's pattern each month. I used to do a bead project each month called the Bead Journal Project. That group fell apart when it moved to facebook. I loved it though.

Woohoo! Looks great! A fun year long project. I need to come up with something for next year too. Gail at the cozy quilter.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could recommend a yearlong project, but I rarely participate in them. Congrats on finishing your 2024 project. I enojoyed watching your progress.
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed following as you worked on this project, Angela! I always Aida cloth for my criss-stitching, but it is kind of stiff. It seems to soften up as you work with it, though. Lots of amazing stitches there!
ReplyDeleteFabulous finish for the year. Such a great project to do a little at a time. I am not consistent or neat on my stitching yet. But maybe that is because I keep using small counts. What fun to plan the next project!
ReplyDeleteOh, you've made a great sampler! I love the pizza slices and how you have spaced the individual stitches in each section.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Aida is the best fabric to learn a stitch on, although all stitches are not suited for Aida. Once you know where the needle goes in and out, you can play around with plain cloth, velvet or paper etc.
I truly enjoyed the stitch challenge TAST at Pintangle. At Sarah's Hand Embroidery Tutorials, there are projects with three stitches. That looks like an attractive idea - pick any three stitches you like and create a small picture or pattern. Quite often the type of stitch, e.g. a grid-type stitch can become a net or trellis. Individual stitches could then be the flowers on the trellis and so on...
