Slow Stitching Sunday
Oh yes, much happier with this butterfly now. There is still a lot of colour happening, but now it feels interesting, not garish. I used some of my sari silk yarn by couching it down. It helped to pull things together. I am not quite sure about the three little roses I added at the top right. It would be easy to remove them. What do you think?
There are a lot of interestingly textured fabrics in this piece. Texture is always good! I think that is what draws me to working with fabric, the wonderful textures. Plus, when you add embroidery, you get even more texture!

I think I would remove the roses. They don’t fit in with the other textures you have created on your pretty butterfly. Nice couching! Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteThis is the prettiest butterfly I've ever seen! I'm not sure if the roses stand out because they are so light, or because you mentioned to look for them!!??
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't like those little roses. They are too delicate for this beautiful butterfly.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a fabulous butterfly filled with glorious colour colour, texture and visual interest. About those roses.....perhaps if you add a rose or two somewhere on the other wing??
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly, I love the roses!
ReplyDeleteYes, I love the texture of embroidery and hand sewing, too! Your butterfly is a beauty!
