Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I made a little progress on this piece.  I have added some metallic surface treatment.  It is not showing up in this photo.  Metallic is so elusive to capture with the camera!  I think I want to do some more surface design on this before I start beading and embroidering it. Take a Stitch Tuesday

This is my Whipped Wheel Stitch.  I love this stitch.  I don't know why I don't think to use it more often.  This one done on handmade paper is having some tension issues.  It was fine until I got to the end of my thread.  I will have to fiddle with it a bit more to get it just right.  I had thought about adding another color to it but wasn't quite sure I how I would do that.  I will ponder that and hopefully come up with a solution as I think it would look a lot better.    Thanks to Sharon B at  Pintangle  for the instructions.

Bead Journal for September

I feel like this has enough beading now.  The beading enhances the kaleidoscope without obliterating it.  I pushed myself outside of my box by using some bigger beads.  I am always learning! Click on the top image and print it out, color it and then show me what you have done!  I really would love to see how you color this!  I used water media to color mine this week.  I went with the colors of fall. My coloring from the first week I attached to an art journal page.  The colors match way better in real life.  I like covering over the writing I do in my journals.  I don't have deep, dark secrets to hide, I am really quite shallow!  I like the writing to add visual interest and it isn't there for anyone to read.

Funky, chunky, mixed media beads!  I have been busy preparing some beads for an upcoming workshop.  It is going to be loads of fun to teach this one!  So many ideas!  They are a bit addictive to make. I am linking with http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/

Take a Stitch Tuesday

Aw, the running stitch.  What a useful stitch for mark making.  I have used it a lot for pieces I consider to be more art than stitch (not that stitch isn't art!).  It worked well on this handmade paper.  I used Kreinik blending filament in the holographic colors.  I even managed to capture some of the sparkle in this photograph! You can find Sharon's instructions here http://pintangle.com/2015/09/15/take-a-stitch-tuesday-12/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Pintanglecom+%28pintangle.com%29

Starting a new piece

Image
I needle felted some rovings into a piece of silk paper that I had created.  It has been a bit since I have done any needle felting.  I really enjoy the process and wonder why I have not done any for a while.  At this point I am not in love with the way this looks.  The top photo is blurry due to camera shake and I like it better!  Just needs more work.  I am planning to incorporate this into a mixed media crazy quilt landscape.  In my head it is going to be cool!
