Mandala Monday

These aren't colours that I typically use.  Nor is this the style of mandala that I typically do.  It is good to break out of the box and do things differently.  These colours are perfect for this time year don't you think?

Slow Stitching Sunday

I added the blue teardrop-shaped pieces to this mandala.  It needed just a tiny bit more to be finished.  Now I am happy with it.  It feels so good to be working towards finishing this project.  Definitely in the home stretch! I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

LeeAnna  has asked do you still rake fallen leaves or just use a blower to clear them? We usually rake the leaves in the fall.  We might use the leaf blower over some tricky parts though.  I remember the year that Banksy was a puppy.  It was a gorgeous day and I was watching our son's dog, Whistler.  The three of us went out back, and I raked the leaves into piles.  Those two puppies had an absolute riot running and jumping in the leaves.  So cute! I love to travel!  This photo was taken when we were in New Zealand seven years ago.  Hubby sent it to me this week and commented about how cute we look!  He found a good deal on flights to NZ and wanted to tempt me.  Such LONG flights!  I am not keen to do it again.  Besides, there are so many places that we haven't seen yet! I like clearing things out.  I have to be in the mood for it though.  We have lived in our house for almost 40 years!  So, there are...

Work in Progress Wednesday

I added beads, butterflies and stitching to this wool mandala.  Now it feels finished to me.  Yay, another mandala gets moved to the definitely finished pile!  Progress feels good!

Maybe this mandala isn't yet finished.  I thought when I added the butterflies it was done.  Now looking at it again I feel it needs just a bit more.  I have a tendency to stop too soon.  That isn't a huge problem because I can always return to a project.  It is easier to add more than to take away!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I have pulled out all of my wool mandalas.  I would like to get this project finished.  Some mandalas got put in the finished pile, knowing that they weren't truly finished.  I needed to see them all together to be able to tell which ones needed more.  About half of them need more work.  Not a ton more though. For this one, I added the pink bead and green embroidery near the outer edge.  That is what it needed and now it looks finished to me.  At least putting the finishing touches on these mandalas won't take terribly long!  They are a lovely slow stitching project for a Sunday afternoon.   LeeAnna  has asked what dish would you take to a fall gathering? or which dish at a fall gathering would you reach for first? I love turkey.  We have it so rarely.  I would like to have it more often.  I could also skip right to dessert for an apple cranberry pie.  I love the tartness that the cranberries add.  Yum.  I also love the finger foods.  Finger foods make any gathering good! Our Thanksgiving meal went pretty well last weekend.  We went for our usual walk in the afternoon.  We have walked in those woods for over 40 years and this year was the first time we found a puffball mushroom!  We brought it home and I fried it with butter and garlic.  It was a nice addition to our Thanksgiving meal!  I should have taken a photo of it!
