Distressed leaf

I had a wonderful time the other night.  A friend invited myself and another friend to her home to teach us a technique she had learned from Judy Farrow.  We traced a leaf onto copy paper, layered it with sheer fabric and then stitched the outline and veins.  We went over our stitching a few times so that it would have a sturdy edge.  We then painted the paper leaf and took away any excess paper from the outside edge.  We burned away the fabric with a heat tool.  I also tore away some of the paper that formed the leaf to make it more distressed.  Then added some angelina fibres.  I really enjoyed learning the technique.  My mind is a spin with how I can us it!

  1. This must be called mixed media art play. I am sure you had, and will have even more, fun.
