I had fun with this one.  Even though I used colors that are not my favorite I still like the way it turned out.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I am calling my March bead journal finished.  I absolutely love the way it turned out.  It is going to be a cover for an altered book.  I had so much fun doing this one. I am linking with http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/ http://www.supermomnocape.com/

I heart Macro

Thankfully I have more than one camera as my batteries were not co-operating with me.  This isn't a bad capture considering I had to use my little old camera. Some Experimenting

Image
I enjoy experimenting especially when I get pleasing results.  This piece I created the butterflies from some of my macro photographs.  I painted the background fabric.  I stitched the butterflies down with metallic threads.  Fun! I am linking with http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.ca/

I am rather proud of myself that I have stuck with this journal project so far this year!  I guess because it is only once I week I able to stay on top of it.  I had fun adding the wings to this page.  The quote is "Until you spread your wings you never know how far you can fly".  I had trouble getting a white pen to work and in frustration gave up and used a black sharpie.  It would have been nice to have the whole quote in white.  Oh well.

Sharon B  shows us the beaded Oyster stitch this week.  Very nice stitch! Glad I had time to learn it this week.  I think it totally works as a flower petal.

Loving the bright cheerful color! I am linking with Today's Flowers http://image-in-ing.blogspot.ca/ http://mersad-photography.blogspot.ca/

Move over Monet

Image
I love Monet's work.  This is my interpretation of a water lily landscape.  Okay, I know that my work cannot compare to his but I still really like what I created.  It is really hard to get a decent photo of a felted piece. I am linking with http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.ca/

Our quote this week is "Trust your intuition".  Good advice.  I find my intuition is almost always right and I regret when I don't listen to it.   http://blog.luluart.com.au/2016/03/11/colour-me-positive-week-11/

Work in Progress Wednesday

I am making good progress on my bead journal project.  I am having a lot of fun with it.  I am planning to use it as a cover on an altered book. I am linking with http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/ http://www.supermomnocape.com/

Take a Stitch Tuesday

Sharon B  shows how to do the Pekinese stitch this week.  It seems rather familiar but I don't think I have done it previously.  I worked it on handmade paper with a perle cotton and a Kreinik metallic.  I worked it rather loosely as is typical of me.  The colors are not typical for me but I still like it.

I wasn't pleasantly gifted with a lovely bouquet of flowers this weekend!  Oh joy!  Another photo opportunity!  The bright colors are so cheerful! Learned something new

Image
I have been working on my bead journal for March.  I am pleased with the way it is coming along.  I went searching for through my stash and came across these grey flower beads.  Grey flowers!!!  Not on anything of mine!  I started pondering how to add color and came across my Smooch Inks.  Then I actually read the instructions to see if the color would be permanent on plastic.  Yep, and on fabric as well.  What a pleasant surprise.  Further exploration down this path will be necessary. Every piece of you is a burst of something beautiful.  That is the quote we were prompted to use this week from the journal challenge at  http://blog.luluart.com.au/2016/03/04/colour-me-positive-week-10/     Great quote!  I am pleased with the journal page I created.  Lots of bling was added to the crown.  This beautiful princess wants to sparkle!

I have been working on wet felting samples for an upcoming workshop.  We will be creating some fun little flowers in one of the workshops.  I can see myself using them on a cover of an altered book but they could also be a pin or attached to a bag or hat. The Raised Cross Stitch Flower is a pretty simple stitch.  Maybe that is why I completely forgot that I have ever done before this!  If I hadn't left a comment on the post by  Sharon B  I would not have remembered doing it.  I worked it with wool thread on a needle felted wool base that I am using for my bead journal project this month.  I really like this stitch and intend to use again.

I heart Photograph

Image
I went for a lovely hike with my hubby and oldest son yesterday.  I captured this icy waterfall.  I wish I could have got at it from a better angle.  Still not bad for my phone camera. Needle Felting

Image
I enjoy stitching into felt.  It feels so good.  I decided to do my March bead journal on felt again because of that.  I found some wool felt samples at the thrift store awhile back, score!  Using one of those pieces I needle felted some mohair yarn into it.  I am excited to get stitching into it.  I don't have the beads picked out yet.  That will be the next step. This week the quote was "Live like a grownup, play like a child."  Love it!  I am definitely a child at heart.  I wrote I don't want to adult today, I just want to play.  Definitely how I feel most days but I am responsible enough to do the adult thing most days. It has been a while since I posted a coloring page.  It seems appropriate to do so today.  Please feel free to print and color this mandala.

I have been doing some wet felting.  This little landscape needs some help.  I love how seeing a photograph of a piece helps me to see where it can be improved.  However, it is a bit discouraging to look at it and say ugh rather than aww.  Oh well, I will persist. Take a Stitch Tuesday

Doing the Fancy Bobbin Edging stitch this week was a great reminder.  I enjoyed doing it again.  I haven't done anything fancy with it but I did use a gorgeous Kreinik thread.  In working these stitches I am either doing them on handmade paper or a crazy quilt I created a few years ago.  I felt the quilt was good at the time but now I see room for more stitching and improvement. Thanks to Sharon B at http://pintangle.com/2016/03/01/stitch-31-of-take-a-stitch-tuesday-2016/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Pintanglecom+%28pintangle.com%29   for the instructions.
