Stitching Silk



 

When I started stitching in my little silk book I was thinking I would do just leaves and fill them in with many different stitches.  Now I have reconsidered and I am including other things from the natural world.  I have used the Turkman stitch for one wing of this dragonfly and really like the way it looks.  So now I am wondering if I should use that stitch for all the wings.  That doesn't go with my original plan so I am not really wanting to do that.  Possibly I could do the opposite wing with this same stitch as I do like the symmetry of it.

Angela, personally my vote is for the opposite wings matching. You always have the body to try out a third stitch and suspect other insects with wings (fly? butterfly? bee?) to play some more.

I'm glad you changed your mind and started on a dragonfly instead of another leaf - follow your heart!
If I were you I'd do the other wing also with Turkman stitch and then the two smaller wings in another similar stitch (Crossed Feather, Double Lock, Buttonholed Double Chain ...)

Slow Stitching Sunday

 Working on another wool mandala.  It is a pleasure to have the wool on my lap now that the weather has turned colder.  I started this project back in the summer and didn't enjoy working on it so much then.  I wonder if I can complete this project this winter.  There are fifteen wool mandalas to do.  It doesn't seem likely that I will.  I could be wrong.  I don't want to put any undue pressure on myself.  There is no deadline.  The spring might be cool enough to continue working on it.   My but I do jump into the future.  Slow stitching really helps me to be present.  I am so grateful that stitching is such a balm for my soul.  We all need to have something that does that for us.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/
